More and more mobile devices are compatible with one of the technologies that most promises and that, probably, has taken the longest to reach our lives. We are talking about the eSIM , the replacement for the classic SIM card. Although unfortunately, this leap into the future has not been something simple, as it is a newer technology. So not all smartphones have this among their specifications and not all phone companies still offer this service in full.
At first they were only found in some models that were presented on the other side of the world, specifically, in the American continent. However, time has passed and there are already a few Samsung smartphones that have this innovative feature with which you can say goodbye forever to a normal SIM . For this reason, we will tell you which are the mobile devices of the Korean firm that are compatible, what exactly it consists of and how to configure it on your phone.
What is eSIM
This virtual card or eSIM is the evolutionary step that has been slow to arrive, although it is increasingly present in all places, as is the case in Spain. This technology basically consists in that, instead of having a slot with a tray in which to insert this type of card, what has been developed is that a chip is integrated into the mobile device itself. This will come alone on the motherboard of the smartphone and it will be on this chip that a certain electronic number will be associated.
In this way, the smartphone can be identified. With this we will not only avoid having to configure a new terminal each time we use it for the first time, but it will also help us save special, it even offers manufacturers greater freedom when designing smartphones because they will not have to leave a space for these types of slots.
It is for this very reason, as you will remember, that the SIM itself has gone through different sizes since its arrival on the mobile market. And, since its launch, we have witnessed how its dimensions were increasingly reduced until arriving at the latest nanoSIM. However, with this virtual card, we are getting closer and closer to saying goodbye to this little component.

Although it will also depend on the speed of the operators in each country in allowing this type of connection. For example, in Spain there are already six telephone companies that have eSIM. In addition, this virtual SIM will have stored the profile of all the operators in each country. Therefore, in our country there are the following:

In the case of other Spanish companies, they are still working to be able to definitively integrate these as part of the services they offer to their clients. As is the case with MásMóvil or Simyo. Compatible Samsung phones
Not all brands are compatible with the future of eSIM cards, although luckily, Samsung is one of those manufacturers that has opted for them and already has a somewhat wide catalog of smartphones in which we can configure it. Therefore, these are all mobile phones that support eSIMs :

Set up an eSIM as the main line on your Samsung
At this point, it is time to find out how we can configure an eSIM on a Samsung mobile device . Therefore, if you have any of the previous smartphones, which are compatible with this technology, we can get to work.
Although before proceeding to configure it on our mobile device, it will be necessary for us to contact our telephone company, as it will be a vitally important step, since they will have to give us a QR code that, later, we will have to scan with our terminal.
In this way, we will also make sure that the operator we are with has this option among its services. However, the replacement of a SIM by a virtual card can come to suppose an extra cost. So, by calling your operator, you can get out of doubt. In case of acquiring it as a new line, it will also entail a cost.
Therefore, in order to activate this virtual card as the main line on your Samsung phone, you must follow the following steps:
- Open your phone settings and access Connections .
- Then, enter the SIM card manager section . Once inside you will see the cards that you have added at that very moment.
- On this screen, we will have to click on the option called Add mobile plan. Here, your smartphone will search for one that is already active by your operator.
- Click on Add using QR code and scan the one that your company has provided.
- Then, click on accept to start the download.
- Then accept again to activate this mobile plan. To verify that it has been done correctly, go back to SIM card manager and check if you already have the virtual one as the main line.
If, after having configured this virtual card on your mobile device from the Korean firm and you wish to delete it in the future, you can do so easily. To carry out this simple action, we only have to follow the previous steps by entering the Connections> SIM card manager section and remove all mobile plans that you no longer want to have on your smartphone. To do this, finally click on Delete all plans and confirm the process, or select the one you do not want to have.
