On the occasion of the celebration of its tenth anniversary, Instagram wants to celebrate its first decade of life with the launch of a hidden function that will allow users to change the application icon for several models to choose from.
The return of the Polaroid camera
It is a hidden function that we can activate from the configuration menu, and it is that we will only have to carry out a simple dragging movement down to reveal a row of icons that will appear at the top of the screen. If you keep dragging, you’ll reach the end of the line and the confetti will explode to celebrate the party.
At that moment you will have activated the hidden menu, so you only have to select the icon with which you want to change the appearance of Instagram from now on. Among the options we will find the three original icons that were based on the Polaroid that inspired the developers to create the icon, but also other colorful proposals based on the current logo of the gradients, as well as a couple of simple and elegant monochrome options.
How to activate the secret menu
To activate the hidden menu of the icons, you must have the latest version of Instagram installed and access the application’s settings menu. Once inside, drag down to reveal the icons in the upper area and keep dragging until the confetti appears.

If you can’t make the hidden menu appear, don’t worry. At the moment it seems to appear on iOS, so it will be a matter of hours or days until it appears on Android and in all accounts of the social network. It will be a progressive process until it is activated for everyone.
Only available in October
Unfortunately, this special function will only be available during the month of October, so by the time the birthday month ends, everything will return to normal, and we will not be able to change the application icon again officially. But don’t worry, there will be ways to do it when you are out of time.
