Among the infinity of applications that we can have installed on our mobiles, we find several apps with the same utility, among which may be the browser, camera or messages, among others. So that our mobile knows which we want to choose by default, we will have to configure them or change the default applications , a task with several options in Android.
These options have been renewed over time in Android with some differences in aesthetics. Following the steps that we explain below, you can carry it out regardless of the phone model and even if the images do not fully correspond to the design of your mobile. It is a very important function to save us time and always choose the alternative that works best with what we need.
Choose the default application
The first and most important thing we must do is select the application that will work as the default for each of the services of our mobile. In this way, when we have to make a call, send a message or browse a web page, the system will know our preferences . To change the default application on Android we have to go to Settings> Applications.
Within this section of applications we will see the option called ” Default applications ” and inside we will see an access for each of the services, just by tapping on it we can modify it by others with the same utility that we have on our mobile phone already installed.
Change apps to open links
When we access a link, we have several possibilities and this option is independent of the default applications. To modify the links that have permission to open in each of the applications, we will have to go back to Settings> Applications and go to the option called “Open links”.
Inside we will have access to each of the applications installed on our mobile, among which we will choose one of them. Inside we can see three options to open our links, which are the following:
- Open in this application : Whenever a link is compatible, this app will be used.
- Always ask : It will always give us the option to choose whether we want this option or other compatible ones.
- Do not open in this application : It will never open the links with this app, unless you eliminate the other alternatives.
If we are not convinced of the change and want to return to the original state , we just have to tap on the button in the section open links for each application in “Clear default values”. In other mobiles with a different customization layer, we can do this same process by going to Settings> Applications and choosing the application we want to use.
