When we create a web page, something basic and without a doubt one of the first steps is to choose the domain name. We have to take one that is free, register it and then point to the server where we are going to host the content. The first thing to keep in mind is that this is not an immediate process . That is, let’s say our domain expires on January 1. This does not mean that if we do nothing on January 2, someone else can go and register it. This takes time.
This time, once again, can be variable. Rather we must speak of a process . When the domain expires, the company where we have hired it will grant a grace period. This is a time given to the client so that they can renew that domain that has been inactive again. This period is usually one month in the case of .com extensions and just a few days in the case of .es. As we can see, it will also depend on the extension contracted.
But if that period ends it does not usually mean that it is automatically released, although again it will depend on the extension . Normally there is another period known as punishment that can last even another month. This means that nobody can register that domain except the user who has had it up to that moment. However, this time the cost will be higher than a simple renovation.
The last general step lasts just a few days. It is the time in which all the above has been fulfilled and the domain is released. It is when it is removed and anyone can register it in their name.
