It only takes a small spark to ignite uncontrollable fire in everything surrounding the future GTA 6 . And that neither the game is official, nor is absolutely anything known about it, but you already know how this rumor mill and unconditional fans work: they are even capable of reading patent applications.
A patent that will give life
That is just what happened with a message on Reddit, where the user ElementNo28 reported on the publication of a patent application on behalf of Take-Two. Considering that we are talking about Rockstar’s mother company , any suspicion could be good news for those who are looking forward to knowing the slightest information about the future installment of GTA, and it seems that there are reasons to think about it.
For starters, the people who are assigned the patent with David Hynd and Simon Parr, CTO and Head of AI Programming at Rockstar respectively, so this is where it gets interesting.
Traffic arrives with smart routes
According to the documentation, the patent describes an artificial intelligence system that would allow NPCs (non-playable characters that are part of the environment), to adapt intelligent trajectories without the need to follow a specific pattern. As you surely know, the streets of GTA are full of vehicles that move with a life of their own, but these vehicles tend to respond automatically and in an unhuman way to accidents that occur suddenly (especially caused while your character is riding the goat on a motorcycle or piloting a fighter in the middle of the main avenue).
If implemented in the next Rockstar title, the city would come to life in a much more realistic way than what is currently happening in GTA V. As there are no established reaction patterns (today NPCs are limited to controlling their surroundings to do not crash), the city can feel more real with traffic that responds naturally. We will see if the potential of the new consoles allow us to enjoy a high volume of vehicles on the screen, but that will be another topic to be discussed.
What about GTA 6?
To this day the game is still a great unknown, but after the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2 , fans of the saga do not see the time to enjoy a first preview in the form of an official announcement by Rockstar. We’ll see if these patents mean something, but taking into account that there is no other possible option than to come from Rockstar, something tells us that something is brewing in the offices.
