The biggest problem with Google Chrome is the large amount of RAM it consumes. Especially when we have many tabs open. And we well know that, although we accumulate many open tabs, the ones that we usually use at the same time are usually a couple of them, few more. Therefore, all the others that are loaded into memory are only wasting RAM and affecting the performance of the PC. This is how extensions appeared, such as The Great Suspender , which promise to suspend all these tabs that we do not use to save memory on the PC. An extension with millions of users that, unfortunately, has just been marked as malware.
Over time, The Great Suspender has earned the trust of users. This extension has become, for many, one of the essential extensions to save RAM in Chrome that cannot be missing in any browser. Like most of them, it is an open source extension, and its source code is published on GitHub . However, we don’t know why, The Great Suspender was just flagged as a malware extension. And this marks its end.

Beware: hidden malware in The Great Suspender
A few hours ago all of a sudden this extension has been flagged as malware by Google . All users who have it installed will see an emergency notice that will inform about it and recommend its uninstallation from the browser. Even this extension has already been temporarily removed from the Chrome Store to avoid new installations.
Could this extension have malware? It is very likely that it is, but we did not expect Google to take such drastic measures with it. Last year, this extension was sold several times until it ended up with an unknown owner. It is not known exactly who is currently controlling the changes of The Great Suspender, but it does not look good.

This is not the first time rumors about malware have circulated around this extension. Since version 7.1.8 of it, it is suspected that there is an exploit inside that allows you to have almost total control of the entire PC. This has already caused Microsoft to remove the extension from its store in the past. And now it is Google who moves the tab.
If we have this extension installed in our browser, we must eliminate it as soon as possible . At least until these issues are cleared up. And if we want to continue saving memory while we navigate we must give The Marvellous Suspender a chance.
The Marvelous Suspender, new extension without malware
This is a new extension uploaded to GitHub just two weeks ago. The extension is based on the original source code of The Great Suspender but before the controversial version released after its purchase. In this way we are sure that this extension is reliable, it does not follow users, does not show ads or have malware.
At the moment we do not know if Google will reconsider and upload the extension to the Chrome Store again, or if this is a final goodbye. Be that as it may, it seems that there are dirty things inside The Great Suspender. And therefore, it is necessary to delete the extension as soon as possible from our browser.
