GoPro Quik: Easy Video Editing from Mobile

GoPro continues to work on shaping its adventurous philosophy to encompass more than just action cameras for intrepid users. Today the company announces Quick, an application for ordering and cataloging photos that, considering its features, we could well say that it is presented as an alternative to Google Photos, although unfortunately it will not be completely free.

The power to edit videos automatically

GoPro Quik

Something that is especially striking among GoPro users is the ability to edit videos from the official application with astonishing ease. We will only have to select the clips generated in our last walk through the field so that the application selects the best moments, applies sound effects, sets a background music and returns you an incredible video that you can share with your friends and family.

It is a completely transparent process for the user, and the results obtained are especially good, so the user experience is magnificent. With this software potential in mind, GoPro has decided to bring this magic to all users, whether they have GoPro products or not, and this is where Quik was born.

How does Quik work?

The first thing you should understand is that the application we used to know as GoPro is now called Quik. This means that you will be able to continue doing everything you could do with your camera, be it a Hero or a Max, such as controlling the camera remotely or passing the photos and recordings that you had made.

But the interesting thing about Quik is that now it can be used by all kinds of users, whether or not they have GoPro products. The new application will be able to read the gallery on your phone, and from there create albums and automatic editions that can be shared through social networks. We will only have to select the videos that we want to use for the compilation, and the application will be in charge of selecting the most striking moments, adding an opening text and placing background music so that the whole video is great.

All your creations can be placed on your personal wall, which is something like the Instagram feed, but in a completely private way. We do not know if the manufacturer intends to take this further with social network dyes (it would make sense), but for now your mural can only be viewed from your profile, and so that other users can see their creations, you must share a link to through social media.

Paid subscription for all features

Quik’s potential is tremendously attractive, however, the best features will only be available to subscribers of the GoPro paid program. The price of the GoPro subscription is 5.49 euros per month, being able to pay the annual modality for 49.99 euros per year, however, those who want to limit themselves to using the Quik application with their personal photos and videos, you can pay the amount of 9.99 euros per year to enjoy unlimited storage in the cloud.

In the first subscription mode, users will be offered various tools, modes, functions and totally exclusive advantages, such as the possibility of buying GoPro cameras at a discount (up to 3 cameras per year), enjoy editing tools, unlimited storage in the GoPro cloud with no loss of quality, unlimited access to the wall, automatic uploads, live broadcasts and shared links.

As you can see, these functions available in the subscription to the service complete the tool, however, it will be necessary to see to what extent users are willing to add one more subscription to their expenses. Unlimited storage sounds interesting, so possibly many users opt for this option. But be careful, the free modality will meet for many users, so if you are not interested in cloud storage, with the video editing tool with the default settings and effects you will have more than enough.

What is clear is that GoPro with this movement seeks to increase its share of users, and possibly, hook a good number of them to a subscription service that guarantees monthly income, which seems quite smart to us.

If you are interested in trying Quik , you just have to go to the App Store or the Play Store and download the new version of the application that is now available for download.
