Google Maps now filters the charging stations by plug
Tesla electric cars have a large screen that controls almost every aspect of the car. Among them we also find the presence of Google Maps, which is the application used to plan routes. It also shows the loading points on the road, but in cars of other manufacturers we may not have it so easy. Therefore, Google Maps is incorporating a new and interesting feature.
From now on, Google Maps will allow you to filter the type of search depending on the type of connector your electric car needs , which will allow you to more easily go to charging points compatible with your car.
Last April, Google Maps included the possibility of finding electric charging points, but it did not allow filtering by those that are compatible with our car or with the converters we carry. For example, if we have an electric car other than Tesla (like a Hyundai Kona), we cannot use Tesla superchargers, so we can remove them from the results.
Electromaps or Plugshare are still better
Among the plugs left to choose are the J1772, CCS (Combo 1), CCS (Combo 2), Type 2, CHAdeMO and Tesla . CHAdeMO is used by Nissan, while BMW and Volkswagen are committed to CCS, in addition to the Tesla Model 3 which also has CCS in its European version. The option of what type of chargers we want is available in two parts: in the filters of each search, and in the electric vehicle settings that we have in the Google Maps configuration.
In Spain at the moment there is no official list of charging points for electric cars as it happens with gas stations, so it is necessary to resort to unofficial maps such as Electromaps . In the future, Google Maps will also allow you to pay at the recharge point directly from the application. Despite all the news, Maps is still behind more complete apps like the aforementioned Electromaps or Plugshare .
