Do You Like to Write by Hand? Google Lens Will Now Surprise You

Google Lens is that quite futuristic tool that generally goes unnoticed on our phones, but that allows us to recognize objects, find out product prices or carry out translations just by using the cell phone camera.

The Mountain View company announced on May 7 new features for the program. Perhaps the most innovative is from now on being able to copy the content written by hand and take it to digital format with just one swipe of the camera.

“Now when you select text with Lens, you can tap ‘copy to computer’ to quickly paste it to another Chrome device. This is ideal for quickly copying handwritten notes (if you write them carefully!) And pasting them onto your laptop without having to retype them all, ”the statement said.

Other features announced by Google Lens

  • Searches to  learn a new language have doubled in recent months. If you are using the extra time at home to learn a new language, you can now use Lens to translate words in Spanish, Chinese and over 100 languages, pointing the camera at the text. Now, you can also use Lens to practice words or phrases that are difficult to say. Select the text with Lens and tap the new Listen button to hear it out loud.
  • If you come across a word or phrase that you don’t understand in a book or newspaper, such as “gravitational waves,” Google Lens can help you. Now, with the results of Google Search online, you can select complex phrases or words to get more information quickly. These features will be implemented today, except for Listen, which is available on Android and soon on iOS.

This is not the only thing Lens has announced during 2020. In March, he spoke of “we are working with The New York Times so that readers of the print edition can use Google Lens to unlock more information by simply pointing their phone’s camera smart to the pages ”.

“Point the lens at the cover of Magazine to see how it was designed. And while you read, you’ll be able to get more information related to the articles that arouse your curiosity and save or share them digitally simply by pointing Lens to the page. In addition to the cover and articles, we are excited to work with The New York Times and other brands to bring interactive elements to print magazine ads through Lens. ”

Lens is available in the  Google app  on iOS and in the  Google Lens app on Android.
