Goodbye frames! Sony’s next mobile will be as many wish

sony-experiaAbout to face 2020, little by little we are keeping an eye on the big releases that await us in the first stages of the new year. One of the manufacturers that do not usually miss the appointment is Sony, who is expected, present the successors of the Xperia 1, Xperia 5 and Xperia 10. In addition, it seems clear that the Japanese company will soon unveil its first mobile compatible with 5G

Some rumors indicate that the new models could be called Xperia 3 or Xperia 6, but nothing is confirmed yet. However, Sony is expected to repeat the 21: 9 screen formula, hallmark of its 2019 models. However, the Xperia 1, Xperia 5, Xperia 10 and Xperia 5 released this year, still have frames generous, despite having been reduced compared to other years. Even so, Sony has not made the leap to “notch” or any other type of technology that will allow an “all-screen” experience. Therefore, the big question is what Sony is going to do by 2020.

The goodbye of the frames?

Now, a Sony patent filed with the World Patent and Trademark Office, reveals that the company would be thinking of finally adapting to the times, offering a terminal that virtually eliminates the frames. This patent is accompanied by images that show a virtually borderless terminal , with a new user interface and icons on the upper left and right side.

Everything seems to indicate that Sony will opt for a perforated screen design to accommodate the selfie sensor, an increasingly widespread design and that we see in terminals such as the Galaxy Note 10 and that it will presumably also bring the next Galaxy S11.

If I am to continue offering its traditional water resistance, it seems that a pop-up camera is not the best idea, while cameras hidden under the screen are not yet a commercial reality. Therefore, the central hole could be the option chosen by Sony for its next flagship.

In time for the MWC

At the moment the specifications of the next great Sony terminal for 2020 are unknown. The firm is expected to make a presentation during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which will open its doors on February 24, which will announce this and other models.

However, the first rumors about the successor of the Xperia 1 affirm that the terminal will arrive with the new Snapdragon 865 and that it will be the first device of the brand to be compatible with the new 5G networks.
