Spotify is one of the main streaming platforms for listening to music and you can use it for free at no cost, although with restrictions. You can have a free account or bet on the Premium option that has a price of 9.99 euros per month although there are also more plans like Spotify for students that you can get if you want a discount on the price of your bill.
If you are a student and you usually listen to music, you can enjoy Spotify for students with a lower price than usual as long as you meet some requirements. We explain everything you should know about this more affordable option that you can request from Spain or any other country available on the list.
What is it?
Spotify for students is simply a discount to have Spotify Premium with a better price than other users. You will be able to enjoy all the advantages of the paid account such as being able to listen to the music without connecting and downloading your songs or as the possibility of playing all the songs without ads. It is also multi-device or allows you to play all the songs you want by hitting “next” and without limits in this function. The only difference between Spotify Premium and Spotify for students is their price: you only have to pay half: 4.99 euros per month.
Requirements
The Spotify Premium discount is valid for one year and you can have it for up to four years in total. It is available to students from accredited universities or colleges that verify with SheerID. In the next paragraphs we leave you all the universities or schools in Spain that are compatible with Spotify Premium to find out if you can have the discount.
How to apply?
To request the student discount you have to go to the Spotify student website and register by following the steps that are indicated.
Once you have finished the process, you have to log in to the portal of your university to demonstrate that you are enrolled. You can also upload a document to Spotify to prove that you are part of that university or school.
Renewal
The Spotify Student Discount is valid for students for twelve months from the first month free. Once the discount passes, the subscription continues automatically at the usual Spotify price (for 9.99 euros per month) and you have three subscriptions: cancel your subscription, request the discount for another year or continue paying Spotify Premium at the price of other users.
To renew Spotify for students you will simply have to follow the same steps as to register, go to the same website and complete what you request.

My university is not listed
The list of universities works through SheerID, as they explain from Spotify. It is a verification service partner and you can request yours if it does not appear. You will have to go to the SheerID website , enter the information (Country and university) and wait. The process can take about 30 days and they will confirm if your request has been approved or not.
I am abroad
If you are abroad you can check the complete list of universities compatible with Spotify for students according to the country in which you are . Of course, the country configuration of the account must match the country of the university or institution in which you study and you must use a payment method that is valid in that country.
