You already know that we do not want to enter absurd battles over which console is better, but if an eminence of the game scene makes such statements, we have no choice but to take a look and see what exactly it has said. Is Xbox Series better than PS5? That is what Gabe Newell claims.
The eternal and absurd comparison

Considering that the consoles have not yet reached stores and that we do not have loan units to analyze them in detail, any type of comparison between Xbox Series X and PS5 cannot go beyond aesthetics, which console is larger and the strategic approach that both companies have presented so far.
It is true that we already know the technical specifications, and while both consoles are extremely similar in architecture, certain details make one bet on a certain component and the other on a different approach. So, for example, we have that the characteristics of PS5 bet on an extremely fast SSD drive, while promising a fairly high GPU speed.
Xbox Series X for its part prefers to bet on raw power, with a good GPU speed but focused on 12 teraflops of total power. In the end, these two proposals will offer very similar games, but until we see them in operation we will not be able to say what differences exist exactly between one and the other.
Newell is clear
But if there is someone who is especially clear about it, that is Gabe Newell. The Valve co-founder and creator of Half-Life, stated in an interview for The Project NZ that Xbox Series X is simply the best console, and when arguing his thinking, he stated that it is basically because it is.
Curiously, he clarified that they have no interest in the fight between the two platforms, since their work focuses exclusively on PCs and not consoles, but if I had to choose between them, I would choose the Xbox Series X.
This quick decision could simply be justified by the figures that Xbox Series x handles in terms of technical specifications, however, it could also be conditioned by the relationship that Newell had with Microsoft, where he worked as an employee in the development of Windows NT and whose position It allowed him to pocket a large amount of money, loot that would later be used to found Valve.
Whether or not that is the reason for his choice, the truth is that the father of Steam did not shake his pulse when choosing. Surely more than one would like to have it so clear when choosing a console or another when both are put on sale at the end of the year. And is that, having to choose only one … which one would you choose? Why?
