Find My Mobile by Samsung Now Works Even Without a Network Connection

One of the things that can cause the most headaches is not being able to find your phone . No matter how hard you try, it has been lost forever among the sofa cushions or, worse, on the street. If you don’t know if your Samsung is somewhere at home or has fallen out of your pocket outside the home, you have different options to try to locate it before it’s too late.

In these situations, the services of the different brands or their operating systems can help you find the device based on its current GPS coordinates. However, these services generally require that the phone be connected to the Internet and this is something that does not always happen, especially if you have not lost it , but someone has stolen it.

Find My Mobile Works Without a Network Connection

So now the Samsung Find my Mobile app can work without Internet to find your lost phone.

Find my Mobile, offline

Max Weinbach , one of the most active users of XDA Developers , found that Samsung can find the device even if it is not connected to the Internet . It is a new function of One UI where a novelty gradually appears, that you can search for the lost phone through Find My Mobile even without access to the network.

And how is this achieved? Very simple, not using the phone itself, but using the rest of the Samsung Galaxy phones present in the area where the device is located. That is, the application uses the information from other Samsung Galaxy devices that have been able to find the lost phone nearby using other types of connections such as Bluetooth or NFC in addition to Wi-Fi.

Of course, this does not only apply to our mobile phones since, in this way too, it should be possible to find a watch or headphones in the same way that we can do it with Apple, which offers a similar service since last year in its iPhone with iOS 13. American brand phones also use networks of other iPhones to locate lost devices.

How to use?

Your phone will display a notification with the new feature as soon as you receive the latest Find My Mobile update on your Samsung Galaxy. By clicking on the notification, the configuration page will open instantly, where you can enable the location function without Network by clicking on the switch located in the upper right corner. You can also encrypt your offline location from the same settings page.
