Until now, independent user profiles remained a pending issue for Google TV. The objective of Google TV has always been to get to know its users and thus be able to offer a catalog of recommendations tailored to them. However, the television is a device that we usually use as a family, so the recommendations of Google TV so far have not been perfect as there is no separation between the members of a house.
Apparently, this feature was going to arrive at the end of 2021, but with everything that has happened in the world these last two years, the thing has been delayed. However, in 2021, Google TV has already taken a first step with the arrival of child profiles , a very interesting way of managing the content that the smallest of the house can have access to and whose implementation is really interesting and well above from what we already saw in the Android TV versions.
These profiles for minors are managed directly from the Google account of the children’s father, mother or guardian, and allow screening by applications, shows and even setting a time limit for the use of the profile to make a healthy and responsible consumption of the television.

According to comments from Mountain View, the update that will allow managing profiles on Google TV is already available, and will reach our devices between today and the next few weeks, because as usual, the launch will be done in a staggered manner.
We can create up to 12 different profiles on a single device. As they comment, it will not be necessary to install each app again in the new profiles. You also won’t need to sign in to each streaming service again; they will use a shared database . Yes, there will be differences with respect to Google services, that is, each user who logs in with their Gmail account will have access to their own YouTube account and other company services.

However, this will only apply to the profiles that we select as standard profiles, that is, those that are aimed at adults. Child profiles will not be affected by these changes, although it is not ruled out that new improvements will be applied to these profiles that were introduced last year.
