As part of one of the oldest security elements of our mobiles, the PIN code has always been the first armored access door. However, it is common to enter the PIN incorrectly, to the point of reaching the SIM card lock . It is at that moment, when the PUK code comes out to the field, ready to fix the mess of our errors. On the other hand, it is quite likely that we will not learn it by heart from minute 1, so we will have to find it.
Unlike the four numbers in the PIN code, the PUK code is a sequence of more numbers. This is delivered to us together with the SIM card and the code that we enter in the phone to start using the card that we have just inserted and that corresponds to our company. In any case, this key has a meaning, ‘Personal Unlocking Key’, or what is the same, personal unlocking key. It is very convenient to have this number at hand , so that in the case of entering the PIN code incorrectly three times, we will have access to our mobile card again.

What exactly is the PUK code?
The PUK code is an eight-digit code that allows us to unlock a SIM when we do not know the PIN code or have entered it incorrectly three times. At that moment, when we ‘block the card’, it will send us to a new window in which it will begin to request this password.

In addition, it is a code with greater security than the previous one. And don’t worry, because we won’t have to use it every time we turn on the phone, but only when it locks. And unlike the well-known PIN, we cannot change it at any time. Basically, because it is assigned to the card that the operator has given us. And all to maintain security.
It is also important for you to know that if you enter the PUK code incorrectly many times, you better be prepared to go looking for the customer service number. We say this because if you enter it wrong many times, the card will be blocked permanently until the operator unlocks it for you. The companies confirm that the card is blocked if we put the code wrong about ten times in a row . Although, in any case, by calling our operator or going directly to a store, they will unlock it for us.
How to retrieve the code
There are several methods to recover the PUK code of our card. And best of all, all the methods are common to any of the different mobile operators such as Movistar, Vodafone, Orange, Yoig, among others. Basically, because they go through contacting the customer service number, taking a look at the original documents of the SIM or entering their respective web pages.

Check the information they gave you
The first option is to search the SIM card documents , since in all these operators we will find the PUK code, just below the original PIN code. However, if we have thrown away or we do not find that piece of plastic, we will have at our disposal the personal access or client area that each operator offers us and where we will be able to carry out various procedures related to our line, including the visualization of this personal code.
From your company website
When the time comes when we can’t find the PUK code from our operator’s documents either, we have one more alternative to find this number. At first, we can choose to enter the client area of our operator:
- Movistar .
- MoreMobile .
- Vodafone .
- Orange .
- Yoigo .
- Mobile tuenti .
- O2 .
- Fine work .
- Pepephone .
- Lowy .
- Jazztell .
- Amena .
- digi .
- Simyo .
- Euskaltel .
- Lebara .
- Llamaya .
- Whoops .
- Mobile Republic .
In the event that, for some reason, we are not able to find it in the mobile application or from the website of the operator that we have contracted, there is still a solution.
To do this, we will have to contact the operator through the customer service telephone number. Although, we can also try to find the card in which the SIM of our phone was inserted. But, if we are not one to keep this type of objects, it is clear that our best option will be to call our company directly. Therefore, in the following section, we will give you all the numbers so that you can contact customer service.

call your company
In the latter case, after an identity verification by the specialized agent, the number will be provided to us. It is an action that will take us a few minutes. But for that, you must know the telephone numbers of the different customer service departments of the operators in Spain:

- O2: 1551.
- Vodafone: 22123.
- Lowi: 121.
- Orange: 1470.
- Jazztel: 1565.
- Amena: 1478.

How do I find it on the web or app?
This will depend on the company in which we have the mobile line. Although, in general, the steps will be the same. In case you are not registered, you can access from your company’s app from the option with phone number. This is a new way to log in through your apps. At that moment, we will receive an SMS with a verification code or, directly, we will be able to confirm it within the app. But, we must always do it with the number that is contracted in that company.
If we prefer to register, we must enter the identity number of the owner of the mobile line. In addition, they will ask you for an email. Then you will likely be asked for your phone number as well.

Finally, we will have to put a password that will be the one that will ask us to log in to the web or app. The username will usually be the identity number, although it is likely that you can also use the mobile number.
Once we are inside the customer section of our operator, we must look for a section called PUK Code . Normally, it will be within the customer data: My Movistar, My Vodafone, My line (the name of the section changes, since it depends on the company). Then, we only have to show the key and enter it on the phone.
