Paint 3D was one of the novelties that Microsoft introduced in Windows 10. This new app was intended to become the successor to Paint, offering users a much more complex editor designed for both 2D images and 3D designs. As was obvious, this app was not only unsuccessful, but users are not interested in 3D editing, since it is not something that is very useful nor is it precisely accessible to all users. So, in the end, Microsoft has had no choice but to back down.
The next big Windows 10 update , namely 21H2, is going to bring interesting changes to the operating system. And among them we will find a series of changes that seek to order and organize the operating system a little better.
A few weeks ago we saw how Microsoft intends to eliminate one of the most useless folders in the operating system: 3D Objects . This folder was included within the personal folders of the operating system and was designed, above all, to save the 3D compositions created with its editor. After seeing that no one used this folder, it will finally be removed from the system in this version of the system. But it will not be the only thing, related to 3D, that will disappear from the system.
3D also disappears from the context menu
Build 21332 of the operating system saw the light of day in early March. This update did not bring major changes to the system, but rather focused on fixing bugs. But if it did something, it was remove the 3D Viewer and Paint 3D applications. From it, these two applications related to 3D design are no longer part of the default software of the operating system.
But, although Microsoft has not indicated it, the elimination of these two applications brings another important change. And it is that, from now on, when these applications are not installed in Windows 10, we will not see the option ” Edit with Paint 3D ” when right-clicking on any image.
With this change, the contextual menu of the operating system will become a little more organized. Or, if not, at least a little cleaner of unnecessary elements and features.
Paint 3D will no longer be reinstalled without permission
At first, Paint 3D was one of the essential applications of the operating system. And Microsoft would not allow us to remove it. However, things change, and the operating system has tried to give users more permissions on the programs they want or do not want to have installed on their PCs.
Therefore, right now, if we want, we can uninstall Paint 3D from Windows 10 without problems. What happens is that when a new system update comes out, this program will be reinstalled automatically, and we will have to remove it again. The same will happen every time we want to install Windows from scratch , the 3D programs will appear automatically.
As of the next Windows 10 21H2, this will stop happening. Users who have uninstalled Paint 3D will no longer see this app on their systems (unless they download it manually from the Microsoft Store). And it will not be installed by default when installing the operating system.
We hope that Microsoft will continue to give us more control over system apps, ending, once and for all, the bloatware so characteristic of this OS.
