If there’s one thing that particularly caught our attention in our DOOM Eternal review , it’s that the game starts directly with a shotgun. What has happened to good traditions? And that simple but effective pistol that accompanied us at the start of each new game? Take it easy, there are ways to get it back.
Where’s the DOOM Eternal Gun?
Considering the arsenal of weapons that we can enjoy in DOOM Eternal, it is quite strange not to see one as simple and straightforward as the basic pistol with which to start our peculiar hunt. A pistol is a staple in any self-respecting shooter. It can be salvation at critical moments, or the perfect ally to save ammunition when exploding a simple explosive barrel.
Unfortunately, our faithful companion is not present in the latest installment of ID Software or, rather, it is not visible, since someone has managed to find it, and has even been able to use it. How? The user Archangel74447 of the Fearless Revolution forums, has managed to activate it with the help of the command console that they have developed in that community, and for this they only had to use the command g_enablePistol 1 . As you can imagine, this script with the command console can only be installed on the PC version, so you will be unable to see the gun on PS4 or Xbox One.
You’ve probably heard by now that DOOM Eternal originally had a pistol and YES it’s still in the game and accessible via console commands (with Cheat Engine)
I’ve heard it was scrapped because it didn’t really fit the combat flow.
Still pretty sweet looking. pic.twitter.com/FZFmrhQwCB

As you can see in the video uploaded to Twitter, the gun has a spectacular design, completely finished and functional, so the designers finished their work, however, it seems that they decided not to include it at the last minute. Why?
Too little for so much frenzy?
We already told you previously. The rhythm of DOOM Eternal is… hellish. The game runs at breakneck speed, forcing us to be attentive at all times to the waves of enemies, the combination of melee hits and ammunition management. With all of this in mind, you can imagine that a gun could complicate things a lot, so that’s perhaps why this gun fell out of the final version of the game.
