Deleting WhatsApp messages is going to change: how it will affect you

WhatsApp is going to change the time you have to delete your messages. The instant messaging app has been planning for a while to use a new time limit to delete messages and the carousel of news that it has prepared for 2022 is extensive. Let’s see how this change will affect us.

Deleting WhatsApp messages is going to change

Oddly enough, not long ago WhatsApp didn’t allow us to delete messages sent in our conversations, either private or in groups. Surely more than one has messed up by sending a message to a contact or group that did not touch. In that case, it was time to assume the mistake and apologize if necessary. However, WhatsApp has already had this option for a long time and now it is going to undergo modifications. One of the first changes regarding the deletion of messages in WhatsApp is accompanied by the introduction of a new figure in the chats that will be that of the moderator. An evolution of the current administrators, since you can delete messages written by any of the members of a group.

New limit: 2 days and 12 hours

From the WABetaInfo website some time ago they shared the information that WhatsApp was developing a new time limit for deleting messages in its desktop beta version. His plans were to go from “1 hour, 8 minutes and 16 seconds” to “7 days and 8 minutes”.

The novelty that arrives today from the hand of WABetaInfo is that the moderates of the groups will be able to continue deleting messages, but with a new maximum shorter than the one initially proposed of one week. Now the time limit they will have to delete a message is two and a half days.

What is the reason for this time cut? One of the theories that are handled is that it seems quite unlikely that any WhatsApp user could be interested in deleting such an old message. The truth is that it makes sense, since in the conversations that we have through WhatsApp it can rarely matter what was spoken a week ago.

still in development

Keep in mind that the implementation of this new time limit for deleting messages set at 2 days and 12 hours is still under development, so it is quite likely that until its final launch it may continue to suffer variations. At the moment there is no set date for the application of this change, but we will keep you informed about it.

The fact that it is in the development phase means that not even users who have downloaded the beta version will be able to test it yet . Therefore, now we have to wait to see how this novelty of WhatsApp will definitely turn out, which will allow us to delete messages with a new limited time that had been considered previously.
