Storage space is one of the aspects that most concern us mobile users. Although in recent years the number of gigabytes available to users has increased notably, the content we generate has also increased. So if you find yourself with storage problems on your Huawei phone , don’t hesitate and try this solution.

Many times we do not realize it, but there are certain elements that are there, stored in our phones, and that need our attention to be able to give us more free space in the terminal. One of the ways to do this has to do with the updates that our Huawei phones receive.
Clear system updates
As you know, both in Huawei phones and in many others, system updates, known as OTAs , must be downloaded before installing them, so they take up space in the phone’s storage. And precisely these can be quite large, being able to weigh one, two or three gigs perfectly. Logically this is a space in which it is possible that this update is downloaded occupying storage and having no use. So what we propose is to delete those system updates that you have already downloaded, and that could be depleting the memory of the phone. Because it may even be several consecutive updates that have been stored.
So you can erase them
It is quite simple, and it is something that is integrated into the settings of the brand’s phones. Regardless of the version of EMUI that we have, we will have to follow this process:
- Go into settings
- Click on applications
- Again about applications
- Select the three points
- Click on “show system processes”
- Access “software update”
- Go into storage
- Click on “delete data”

In this way, all the data stored by the Huawei system updates app will be erased, and with them all the OTA downloads that were on your phone from the Chinese firm.
Prevent them from being downloaded
Once we have done it, the best thing is to make sure that it will not happen to us again, the one that the updates are downloaded. For this we must also move through the system updates and deactivate the function. To do this you have to do the following:
- Go into settings
- Click on “System and updates”
- Select “Software Update”
- Click on the nut icon in the upper right
- Turn off automatic download

In this way, you can choose when to download them and manage your Huawei storage yourself so that once they are downloaded they do not take up unnecessary space.
