Until just a few hours ago it was taken for granted that this month would be the one to officially know the AirPods 3, although a recent report puts this possibility on the ropes. There is talk of a mass manufacturing date for these Apple headphones that would not coincide at all with seeing them now being launched on the market. Will this delay be real or will the report be wrong? We analyze what is happening.
Could the AirPods 3 be released by the end of the year?
Ming-Chi Kuo seems to have clung in recent days to “where I said I say, I say Diego”, a phrase from the Spanish proverb used when you change your mind about something. The main sources of this analyst lie in the Apple supply chain and although it is difficult to guess exact dates, the Asian accumulated a fairly high percentage of success. However, not long ago he stated that the third generation of AirPods would be launched at the beginning of this year, a fact not yet consummated and that does not coincide with his latest report.

The latest data provided by Kuo speak that the AirPods 3 would begin to be mass-manufactured in the third quarter of 2021, that is, from October. This would mean that they would not be launched in this month of March or in the most immediate months as expected until now. There would be three possibilities here: that Apple has delayed the launch for whatever reason, that Kuo’s first report advising of launch in March was wrong or that the latter is the wrong one and finally if we see the AirPods 3 very soon.
Reasons to believe that they will be launched
There are several indications that make us believe in the last hypothesis described, that this latest report is wrong. At the level of dates it is quite stable that it is now when the AirPods 3 are launched, coinciding with the two years since the launch of the second. The other reason is that there are several leakers who have claimed that they will be released, not just Kuo. And on the other hand we have already been able to see the first renderings and even real images of these headphones, something that would not happen if there were still several months left for their launch.

Ming-Chi Kuo is a reputed analyst in the industry whose main source of income does not come from getting Apple launches right or wrong, so it could not be said that he is lying about making headlines or anything similar. We do not know with pinpoint accuracy what the sources of Kuo are, beyond the fact that they are in the supply chain. It is possible that this has received information that talks about the AirPods Pro 3, which would fit in the end dates of 2021, and the analyst has misinterpreted it.
While it is true that anything could happen, since Apple has not confirmed anything at any time, it does not seem that this will happen. In any case, we will remain attentive to any indication that makes us see if they are finally launched or not in this month of March and, of course, to the official Apple sources that will be the ones that in the end send over any other information.
