The fingerprint sensor on the screen has been a small revolution in the way of unlocking our mobile. The pattern or the password are almost banished as the first security method in our mobile, since nothing beats the comfort of placing your finger on the screen and that it is unlocked safely instantly. But no one said that the fingerprint sensor on Xiaomi phones did not have several options that make it more interesting if possible.
There are several types of fingerprint sensor on the screen, but MIUI allows you to play with some options to modify some of its aspects. These tricks or special adjustments are available within the biometric configuration, and they allow from changing the animation of the fingerprint to creating shortcuts when we use this unlocking method. These three little-known tricks are not intended to improve or speed up the fingerprint sensor, but they do get a further plus of customization that many users will like.
Change the footprint animation
Xiaomi allows the user to choose between various animations for the on-screen fingerprint sensor . This animation takes place when we put our finger on the sensor. We can change it from Settings / Lock Screen / Manage Footprints / Fingerprint Animation. Once inside we can choose between several styles, to change the default.

MIUI integrates a default option, which makes the mobile turn on its screen and show a fingerprint icon so that it is not necessary to turn on the screen manually. It is also a kind of guide so that the user knows exactly where to place the finger. Remember that the detection area can be more or less large depending on the mobile model, but in all cases it is limited to a specific area.
However, when it is on, this option can cause us to use more battery than necessary, especially when we already have more than controlled the position of the sensor. Therefore, we can deactivate it from Settings / Lock Screen / Manage Footprints / Show fingerprint icon when the screen is off (uncheck the option).
Shortcuts with the footprint
The third trick is very interesting, since it allows us to activate three shortcuts when we have our finger on the screen to unlock and hold it down. By doing so, we can activate shortcuts to “Scan QR code”, “Search MIUI Browser” or “Add an event to the MIUI calendar”. It can be activated from Settings / Lock Screen / Manage Footprints
