Control Your Android Phone from Your Windows PC with Scrcpy

In the market, there is an abundance of applications designed to display your Windows PC screen, but when it comes to remote control using a keyboard and mouse, the options are limited, often behind paywalls. However, Scrcpy, an open-source application, offers a solution that allows you to not only mirror your Android phone’s screen on your PC but also control it with your PC’s keyboard and mouse.

Scrcpy is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, making it a versatile tool for various platforms. While the process may seem a bit involved, it’s relatively straightforward when you follow these steps.

How to View and Control Your Android Mobile Screen:

  1. First, download Scrcpy from its GitHub repository. After downloading, unzip the file.
  2. On your Android device, enable the “USB Debugging” option. You can find this option within the developer settings on your mobile. If you don’t see the developer settings, enable them by tapping the “Build Number” in the System menu multiple times.
  3. Connect your mobile phone to your computer via a USB cable, and choose the “Transfer files” option.

Using a Cable:

  • If you prefer a faster wired connection over Wi-Fi, run Scrcpy with the following command:

Via Wi-Fi:

  • Ensure that both your mobile device and your computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Find your mobile device’s IP address in the Wi-Fi settings.
  • Access the folder where Scrcpy is located and use the following commands:

adb tcpip 5555
adb connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5555 (Replace “xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx” with your mobile device’s IP address)

  1. A new window will automatically open on your Windows PC, displaying your Android mobile’s screen. You can use your mouse to interact with applications and your keyboard for text input.
  2. If you rotate your phone to a horizontal orientation, the application window will adjust accordingly to match the content’s orientation. You can also maximize the application window to make it full screen.
  3. To exit the application, simply close the Scrcpy window by clicking the “X” located in the upper right corner.
