Microsoft‘s Office productivity suite is made up of several of the most widely used programs in the world. Among these we can highlight Word , PowerPoint or Excel, solutions that surely most of you use regularly.
Perhaps one of the most versatile is the Excel spreadsheet application, a program that will get us out of more than one trouble. Of course, although in principle many think that Microsoft Excel is an application suitable for professional users, that is not entirely true. Keep in mind that pampering is often used in these environments, but it is also very useful at home. This allows us to make more domestic uses for the end user such as taking home accounting, for example.
The functions and elements that we find here can make the program essential when carrying out multiple tasks. With everything and with this, something that we must bear more in mind is that Excel is specially prepared to work with numerical data, although we can use other objects. For all this, the program offers us a somewhat peculiar user interface, in addition to many other functions. Among these we can highlight the internal functions and the formulas that the software itself presents us. The truth is that the number of these is high, as well as the customization options of the program.
In fact, in these same lines we will talk about a series of changes that we must make in the program to be more productive with it. We are talking about changes to be made to its default configuration.
Customize the Excel Ribbon
The Excel interface is very complete and functional, but we can always adapt the ribbon that the program presents by default. For this, we go to the File / Options menu where we find a new window . In it we click on the Customize ribbon section. Here it is worth spending a few minutes to show the functions that we will really need.
Create shortcuts for quick access to functions
In the same way, from the section called Quick Access Toolbar , we have the possibility of creating our own function bar. This will be visible at all times with different buttons that call the most used functions. Thus, we only have to locate ourselves here and choose the functionalities that we want to add.
Change the image quality of your interface
If we are going to work with a large amount of numerical data, graphs and formulas in this program, we may want to adjust its image quality. Thus, depending on each one, we can view those contents in the best way. We can do this from the File / Options menu to now go to Advanced. Therefore, now we only have to locate the Size and quality of the image section , something that will be effective only for the book that we have open.
Customize the autosave function
Sometimes it can take days or months to finish a single project in Excel , so losing it would be a big upset. For this we must make backup copies, or configure the autosave so that it is done periodically. For this we go to the Save section of the Options window. Here we can specify the time after which the sheet will save itself, the lower the better.
Adapt proofreading
It is also possible that here we work with texts , something more than usual. But of course, we must also customize their auto-correction so that it does not become a nuisance rather than an advantage.
Therefore we only have to go to Options Review to specify the sections that we want Excel to control when working with the aforementioned texts.
