The famous GIFs may seem somewhat new, but it is a format that has been used in computing since 1987. This type of graphic format, has found a gap in its animated variant in messaging programs and social networks, which goes as finger ring. So much so, that some mobiles such as Samsung, allow you to easily create GIFs from a video.

The “Graphics Interchange Format” or GIF, complement emojis as a more precise or graphic way than we feel when we express ourselves on different platforms. Its importance is such that practically all keyboards or applications intended to communicate integrate a section dedicated to being able to attach GIF files.
Compatible phones
But in most cases, GIFs have already been created by third parties, and we just have to find and attach them. But what happens when we want to create our own GIF? Samsung knows the concerns of its users and allows you to easily create GIFs thanks to the “edge” screen of its terminals. It must be remembered that the Samsung mobiles with this type of screen are the following:
- Galaxy S20, S20 + and S20 Ultra
- Galaxy Note10 and Note10 +
- Galaxy S10 and S10 +
- Galaxy Note 9
- Galaxy S9 and S9 +
- Galaxy Note8
- Galaxy S8 and S8 +
- Galaxy S7 edge
- Galaxy S6 edge + and S6 edge

How to create the GIF
This function of the edge screen allows capturing an area of the screen as an animated “GIF” , so we can share our own creations. What we will have to do is swipe up or down on the home screen to access the applications screen. Then we click on the Google folder, since in this case we will take an example of a YouTube video. However, the method is similar for videos stored in the gallery or for other online video platforms.

Then, once we are in the video, we slide over the Edge controller. Now we will have to touch on the “Tuning” option and then we will have to adjust the frame on the desired piece of video and mark the quality to which it will be saved. Then we tap on “Record” and when we have the desired piece, click on “Stop”. If the result is adequate, we will only have to click on “Save” and the GIF will go directly to the gallery of our mobile . Once inside the gallery we can share it on our social networks or programs like WhatsApp or Telegram.
