An Android Work Profile separates work apps and their data from the personal side of a phone. It is normally created through an organization’s management setup, not by turning on a universal switch in Android Settings. A second user, cloned app or private space is not automatically the same feature.

Set up a company Work Profile
- Ask your organization for its supported enrollment instructions.
- Use the provided work-account, management-app, link or QR-code setup route.
- Read the device-management and data notices before agreeing.
- Complete the required screen-lock and account checks.
- Confirm that the intended apps appear in the Work section or with the briefcase badge.
Google’s Android Workspace setup instructions show one organization-managed route. Other management providers have their own steps. If your company has not enabled enrollment for your account, installing an unrelated app will not grant access to its systems.
Pause work without removing the profile
Use the Work Profile control in Quick Settings or the Work tab’s switch if your phone provides it. Google’s pause instructions explain that pausing stops work apps and their notifications until you resume them. A schedule may also be available, depending on the device and policy.
Check the result with a harmless test message. Muting one email app is different from pausing the whole profile, and organization rules can affect what controls you have.
Know what is managed
Google’s management-policy guide distinguishes personal and company-owned devices. Personal app data is separated, but the organization can still see certain device information and manage the work environment. Do not treat a Work Profile as making the entire phone invisible to your employer.
