On a Xiaomi phone, saved passwords may belong to Google Password Manager, a browser or another password-manager app. Start by identifying which service saved the login. A Xiaomi account password, a website password and the phone’s screen-lock code are different things.

Find Google Password Manager
- Open the phone’s Settings and search for Password Manager.
- Open Google Password Manager and check the Google account shown.
- Choose the site or app you need and authenticate with the device’s screen lock when asked.
- Review the saved username and website address before editing or using the entry.
Google’s Password Manager introduction explains the service. In Chrome, the route can also appear under Settings > Autofill and passwords > Google Password Manager. Google documents the current controls in its Android password-management help.
Match the problem to the right place
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| The list is empty | The selected account and the manager used when the password was saved. |
| The password is visible but does not autofill | The phone’s preferred autofill service and the exact app or website. |
| The old password keeps appearing | Duplicate entries and whether you changed the password on the actual service. |
| A work login is missing | Whether it belongs to a separate work profile or organization-approved manager. |
Check autofill on your phone
HyperOS and older MIUI menus differ. Search Settings for autofill, passwords or preferred service, then check which provider is selected. Choose the manager you actually use. If Google services are unavailable on your device, do not assume the Google route will exist; use your installed manager’s official instructions.
Editing a saved entry only changes the stored copy. It does not change your password on the website. Change the password through that service first, then update or save the new entry in the manager.
Move accounts without exposing passwords
For a new phone, first check whether signing into the same password-manager account makes the saved logins available. If you export passwords, follow the provider’s current instructions and treat an unencrypted export as sensitive information. Do not email it to yourself or leave it in a shared downloads folder.
Use a different password for each account and protect the manager’s account and the phone’s screen lock. A password manager cannot protect you if you hand a code or password to a fake support page; our safe-browsing guide covers the surrounding habits that matter too.
Frequently asked questions
Why are saved passwords missing on my Xiaomi?
Check the Google account, browser and password-manager provider. The login may have been saved somewhere else.
Does editing a saved password change it on the website?
No. Change it through the service itself, then update the manager's stored copy.
Are passwords and the screen-lock PIN the same?
No. The screen lock protects access to the phone and can be used to authenticate access to stored credentials.
Do all Xiaomi models have the same autofill menu?
No. HyperOS, MIUI, region and installed services affect the available route. Search Settings and use your provider's instructions.
