One of the problems with which we are most often found on smartphones is the inconvenience of not having enough internal memory. This forces us to have to free up space on Android with various available methods or to opt for a MicroSD card , although this solution allows us all the possible options that we could obtain if we could convert this accessory into internal storage.

This method will allow us not to differentiate between what is stored on the card or what is stored in the internal memory , obtaining additional storage for applications, photos or files. However, the option in MIUI comes standard and we have to follow a few steps to complete the trick that will open up more possibilities in Xiaomi smartphones.
Convert MicroSD to internal storage on Xiaomi
The first thing we need before starting to develop this trick is a MicroSD card, which can be any but we recommend you take into account the different types of mobile memory card, which will determine the speed of our mobile. Next we have to download the Activity Launcher application, intended to execute hidden functions on mobiles that are limited by personalization layers such as MIUI in this case.

- After inserting the MicroSD card we wait for the system to recognize it as a notification that will appear.
- The next step is to open the Activity Launcher app and look for the section called Files.
- When unfolding we will see a series of options where we will touch on the second option.
- In case you do nothing or do not take us to any page we choose to try the following.
- It should take us to the files as you see in the image, to touch on the side menu and select “disk” the memory card.

The next step to convert the MicroSD into internal memory is the most important since it is where we are going to proceed to add the memory of the MicroSD card to that of our Xiaomi smartphones.
- A new page will open where we will touch on the three points at the top and select “Storage settings”.
- Finally we choose the option to format as internal and confirm the process.

Finally we just have to check that now our storage has grown in the Settings> Storage section. In case this is not the case, we only have to restart the smartphone so that MIUI recognizes the internal storage again.
Return the MicroSD to the original state
If for some reason we want to stop using the MicroSD card as internal storage in MIUI, we only have to open the memory tray and remove it and then replace it. This will eliminate the process that we have carried out, it is simple and fast but it forces us to repeat it if we ever want to carry out this trick again.
