How to Control My Computer Remotely for Free with SupRemo

Accessing different computers with Windows or Mac operating systems is very common to provide customer support, help family members to perform a certain task, or simply to manage our own computers remotely without having to connect to the local VPN server and make use of the Windows remote access, or use programs like ultraVNC. In this article we have thoroughly tested the SupRemo program, a multiplatform program that will allow us to access computers remotely easily and quickly, without having to open ports, we will only need an ID and password to access.

Main features

SupRemo is a really powerful PC remote control program, we will not have to perform any advanced configuration in our router or firewall, since it makes use of reverse connections to cross the NAT where the local network computers normally are. , we can connect with just one click to remote computers from the graphical user interface itself. Other interesting features of this software are that we can manage multiple screens on the same PC and switch between them to control it, as if we were in front of the monitors of this computer. As if this were not enough, it also allows simultaneous connections to control different equipment at the same time. If we need to transfer documents between the different computers we control, with SupRemo we can also do it easily, by incorporating a file and folder transfer tool, and it is bi-directional. If we are concerned about the security of our communications, we must indicate that SupRemo encrypts all communications between the computers with 256-bit AES , in addition, a new private key is generated for each connection to increase security.

Control My Computer Remotely for Free with SupRemo

This program is completely free for non-commercial and infrequent personal use , however, if you are a company or freelance, the price is really very cheap, much more than other similar remote control programs. Thanks to very inexpensive licenses, it is possible to manage multiple computers remotely to offer remote assistance, guaranteeing customers reliability and speed. You can download SupRemo completely free of charge on the official website.

Other features of SupRemo are that we can install it as a service , so that it always starts with our PC. In addition, if we acquire the paid subscription, we can personalize SupRemo with the company logo and distribute it to all customers, so that when they open it, our logo, company information, etc. will appear. We can also activate the “Meeting” option, which allows us to share our screen without remote control for other users.

Finally, we can register in the management console of the different SupRemo contacts, where we can register the different PCs to control with the ID and the fixed password, in order to connect easily and quickly when adding them. In addition, this central console is also capable of managing backups with the Uranium Backup program.

Another very important feature of SupRemo is that it is cross-platform, it is compatible with Windows operating systems (from Windows XP SP3 to Windows 10), it is also compatible with Linux and macOS. In addition, we have applications for Android and iOS that will allow us to manage computers with Windows, Linux and macOS operating systems, these applications are completely free and work really very well.

The first thing you have to do is register on the official SupRemo website with your data: to acquire the commercial license it is necessary to do it this way. On the other hand, if you are going to make a personal and non-commercial use, it is not necessary that you register here, but you directly download the program from the official website. We recommend you access the prices and plans of SupRemo where you will find the prices for both commercial individual use, as well as at a professional level of a company. A very important detail is that you will have 21 days of use of this program completely free, so that you can try all its configuration options and possibilities.

Once we have seen the main features, we are going to see how SupRemo works and all the configuration options that we have.

How SupRemo works and all options

The graphical user interface of SupRemo is very minimalist, we find the configuration and management options just right, to greatly facilitate the use for people who have never used remote control software. As soon as we open it, we will be in the «Connection» section, the program consists of a total of four well differentiated sections:

  • Connection : here we will see our ID and password, both to receive support and also to establish a “meeting”, that is, to share a screen only without permissions to remote control users.
  • Contacts : in this section we will see the computers registered, whether they are ours, family members, work, etc. It is the list of contacts that we have registered in the free SupRemo platform for the management of contacts, backup copies, etc.
  • Tools : this is where we will have all the program’s configuration options.
  • License : this is where we must add the paid license if we have purchased it, but this software is free for personal use.

As you can see, in the “Connection” menu we will also see a ” Connect to ” section where we will have to enter the ID of the user we want to control their PC, then it will ask us for the temporary password or the password for unattended access. At the bottom we can find out if the software is available for incoming connections (if we have an Internet connection) and also if we have a license and its expiration.

The “Contacts” section is where we will see all the PCs saved in the PC list of family, friends, work, etc. It is absolutely necessary that you register in the contact management platform. To find out more about how to register on the platform, click here .

In the ” Tools / Security ” section we can configure the fixed secondary password for this specific PC and also force to generate a 6-character random key for the temporary key. Additionally, we can configure the “Request authorization” to confirm all incoming connections, and we can even add the allowed IDs to further limit which equipment can manage our PC.

In “Connection” is where we can configure the proxy options, if we go to the Internet through one. In “Service” we can see the name of the program’s service so that it starts automatically with the PC. In «Advanced» we can change the language to Spanish; protect the SupRemo configuration with a password, and also the program’s execution permissions, if we want to minimize it and even install a remote SupRemo printer. In “Reports” is where we can see the remote control history that we have made with our equipment. Finally, in “Open USilio” it will invite us to register and log in, to have the list of contacts to connect to.

On the official website of the SupRemo address book, all we have to do is log in (if we have already registered before), or register if we have not done so already.

To register we will only need an email and a password, nothing more, as you can see, there is no data to pay for the license or anything, this is completely free.

Within the administration panel we can create different groups, for example, the family group where to register the different computers of our relatives, and also the group “I” which are our computers, operating systems in virtual machines etc. We can create all the groups we want and add all the SupRemo IDs we need.

Adding a new group is as easy as clicking on “+” and giving it a name, the same if we want to add our teams, we will only have to add the ID and secondary password that we have previously configured on each and every one of the teams. This secondary key will be the one that we will use when connecting through the computer or smartphone. We can also put a description for each PC that we have registered.

The rest of the address book options are related to backups and Uranium Backup, the company’s backup program. We can manage backups, receive notifications of completed backups, etc.

Once we have logged into SupRemo with the account created in USilio, we will be able to see the list of registered equipment. Finally, in “Tools / Update” we can see if there is a new version of this program, and also see the status of the license, if we have bought one.

Once we have seen in detail all the configuration options available in the program, we are going to control a computer remotely with SupRemo, so you can see how simple it is.

Remotely controlling a Windows computer with SupRemo

To access a remote computer we have two options, enter the ID and the temporary 6-character password, or the secondary password that we have configured with the installation of the program. In our case, we have registered the different PCs in the contact management platform, using the secondary password that does not change (or at least, that we have not changed). Therefore, by double clicking on the contact to be controlled, we automatically access the equipment.

The control graphical user interface is very simple, in the upper left we will find the ID and the name of the equipment that we are controlling, in addition, if the SupRemo software is not updated, it will also indicate it with a pop-up window. The remote update is as simple as clicking on “Update Supremo”, we wait approximately 1 minute, and it will be updated, without losing connection with the program.

At the top we have the different additional actions to perform:

  • File manager: we open the file manager for the transfer of files and folders
  • Chat: we will open the chat to easily talk with the person in front of the remote PC.
  • Control: additional control options that we detail below.
  • Full screen: use full screen on our PC
  • Video: additional video options, which we will detail below.
  • Disconnect: we close the remote support session.

If we open the «File manager», we can see our PC on the left, and the computer we are controlling on the right. We can transfer files from local to remote and from remote to local, simply by dragging or clicking on the buttons.

In the “Chat” section a chat window will be opened to write to the remote person, all in a very intuitive way.

In the “Control” section we will have additional options, specifically, we will be able to:

  • Send Alt + Tab
  • Send Ctrl + Alt + Del
  • Send to Clipboard as Keystrokes
  • Keyboard map
  • Run Supreme as
  • Remote reboot
  • Remote reboot in safe mode
  • Change roles with partner

In the «Video» section we can change the following options:

  • Take screenshot
  • View mode: auto, original, scaled
  • Video codec
  • Video quality
  • Show remote PC wallpaper
  • Actual size (actual resolution)
  • Select monitor (in case you have more than one monitor)
  • Show all monitors
  • Change resolution

Once we have finished the connection, if we go to “Tools / Reports” we will be able to see this connection that we have just made, the ID to which we have connected, start time, end time and also the duration.

A very interesting feature of SupRemo in its paid version is that we can customize the program when we or our clients install it. If we access the control panel of the main SupRemo website (not the address book), we can perform various actions with our account, such as viewing purchases, activating and viewing licenses, customizing the appearance of SupRemo, modifying data and other purchase options.

If we click on “Customize Supreme” we can add our logo to the program, change the colors and much more. Next, we will download a customized SupRemo .exe file, this executable we can send to our clients so that they can proceed with the installation of the software.

As you have seen, SupRemo is a really powerful remote control program, and free for personal use. We have dozens of options to adequately control remote computers with Windows, Linux and macOS, in addition, we have applications for Android and iOS that allow us to control the different computers with our smartphone remotely.
