More and more functions are available on mobile phones, something that is opening ways to utilities that once seemed impossible. Among them, the control of the mobile in the distance is something very desired by many, but something for which few mobiles have access for now. In some Huawei devices we can already use the gestures in the air , we show you their utilities and the method to activate them.

Thanks to the front ToF 3D sensors, mobiles are capable of improving the portrait mode so that it is as perfect as with the rear cameras, but this sensor is also capable of recognizing our hands and the gestures we make with them. This will open the doors to your control, as long as we follow Huawei’s directions to take advantage of it. We should not confuse it with Huawei’s gestures on the screen, which in turn are also very useful.
Activate and use gestures in the air
To start enjoying this possibility, we will only have to enter the EMUI 10 settings and follow the following sections: Accessibility functions> Shortcuts and gestures> Gestures in the air. At this point we will be able to see a series of images that show us how each one of them functions and activate them individually.

We see two different options to activate, the first of them is that of Huawei’s airborne movements , which can be done as follows:
- To slide the screen down, we move our hand from top to bottom without moving our arm.
- To slide the screen up, we move our hand in this direction without moving our arm.
The next option we have is called fist capture and it allows us to take an image capture without having to interact with the mobile as follows:
- We keep our hand open and when it is time to take the capture we close it in front of the screen.

To improve the result and operation we have to keep the camera and / or ToF 3D sensor clean, keeping our hands at a distance of approximately 20 to 40 centimeters. It is not so important that we have sufficient lighting, since the sensor is capable of recognizing hand gestures in the most complicated situations.
Huawei phones compatible with gestures in the air
Although the list is still somewhat reduced, in the next releases it is expected that more mobiles will arrive with the ToF 3D sensor on the front or can be imitated with only a selfie camera. For now, the high-end are the ones that have these possibilities:
- Huawei Mate 30 Pro
- Huawei P40 Pro
- Huawei P40 Pro +
