Smart speakers are here to stay and already live with us in many houses. Their uses are undeniable, from answering questions, to using them as an intelligence center in our home with home automation. If you have a new speaker with Alexa, a Google Home or Apple‘s HomePod, you will want to know how any smart speaker can be connected to the mobile .
Before starting with the explanations, we must know that it does not matter if we have a mobile that uses Android or the iOS operating system, the process to pair and connect our mobile with any smart speaker is similar. Nor does the brand or the different layers of Android customization matter , the methods and apps work the same way.
Pair your mobile with the Amazon Echo
To connect our mobile with the Alexa Echo devices the process is very simple, we only have to activate the Bluetooth of our mobile and download the Alexa application on Android or iOS . Once we have downloaded it, we have to register or log in if we already have an account created.

We link Echo devices and our mobile
Now the application will ask us if the device has an orange light , which is necessary to start the connection. Once checked, we continue and it will start detecting the devices via Bluetooth. Once finished they will seem like the ones that are available and we only have to choose it to pair them. Within the “Devices” section we will be able to choose the different options that the loudspeaker offers us.
What about other smart speakers with Alexa?
The wide variety of smart speakers available is not just for Echo devices, for example we find other alternatives from the Sonos or Bose brand that allow us to use them with Alexa. The process is very similar although it changes when connecting them.
After downloading the application on our phone and activating Bluetooth, we went to the “Devices” tab of the Alexa app. We touch on one of the last options where it says “Speaker” and we choose the brand in case it appears or the other option. As the page indicates, there are some models that need a skill to be able to use it , but we can do this after we have connected.
Connect Google Home to mobile
The process to connect and link a Google Home to our mobile is very simple. First of all we have to activate the Bluetooth of our mobile and then download the Google Home application on Android or iOS , an app that works the same in both operating systems. We access the app with our Google account and then tap in the upper left corner on the “+” button.
Now we will have to touch on ” configure device ” and then choose “Configure new devices” among which in addition to Google Home appear Chromecast or other types of Google smart displays. Then we select the house where we want to add it and the search for the device will begin, remember to have it turned on.
Connect the phone to other smart speakers with Google Assistant
The Google assistant is one of the most requested and that we can find on more devices. There are an infinity of smart speakers with Google Assistant and that makes it more difficult to connect with our mobile. Among the most popular we find Bose or Sonos, which we can connect from the official applications of each brand , although of course, we also need the Google Home app on our mobile.
Once we enter the app we have to follow the following steps, with slight changes depending on the app:
- We enter the smart speaker app with Google Assistant that we have.
- We create an account, if possible and to avoid mistakes with the same email that we use at Google.
- We enter the application settings.
- Select ” Voice Assistant ” and choose Google Assistant.
Connect the mobile with your HomePod
Apple’s limitations reach the HomePod, limiting its use only to iOS-based devices, specifically with the version higher than iOS 11, so we cannot use it with Android . However to connect our iPhone to HomePod the process could not be easier. First we have to plug the HomePod into power and a white light will appear on the top of the device and we must follow the following steps:
- We unlock our iPhone and sneak it right next to the smart speaker with Bluetooth activated.
- The option to configure it and choose the room where we want to place it or give access to the WiFi in our house will appear in a few seconds.
- Next, it will ask us to use the camera to recognize the device and link it to your Apple account or to do it manually through a code.
- Once completed we can use the Apple House app to configure its options and personalize the experience.
What about other smart speakers with Siri?
In case we have any of the speakers that Siri is compatible with, we have to do several steps to be able to use it. The first thing we must do before connecting the mobile with a smart speaker that is compatible with Siri is to connect our mobile to the WiFi network previously through the official app , which will depend on whether we are using a Sonos speaker or another brand.
The next thing we have to do is enter the Apple House app and tap on the top button “+” and then tap on add accessory . On the next screen we will have to choose the option where it says ” You do not have a code or you cannot scan it “. The device that we are trying to use with Siri should automatically appear to us and we complete the process choosing the room and other options.
