Does my Amazon Echo have Bluetooth?

Connect Amazon Echo to a Bluetooth Speaker

Currently all the latest generation Amazon Echo have Bluetooth connectivity, however, you could have at home some old model already discontinued that does not include the famous wireless connection. To find out if your smart device with Alexa has Bluetooth, you will only have to go through the configuration menu that we will indicate below, and if you do not find the option to pair a speaker by Bluetooth, it is simply that your device is not compatible.

We necessarily need this connection, since it will be the way in which the Echo can send the sound to the speaker we want. Once the connection is established, all the responses from Alexa and everything that previously sounded on the Echo will be played on the portable speaker.

How to connect a Bluetooth speaker to an Amazon Echo

To make the connection between speakers we will have to use the official Amazon Alexa application from your mobile phone or tablet. From there we will choose which speaker we want to manage (in case we have several) and we will proceed to configure it. Be it thus:

  • Open the Amazon Alexa application and in the navigation bar choose the Devices section .

  • Once inside, we will select the option of Echo and Alexa .
  • There we can choose which Echo we want to manage, so choose the device to which you want to connect a Bluetooth speaker.

  • Once selected, you must enter the settings and look for the Bluetooth Devices section. Select it.
  • When entering this section we must click on ” Link a new device “.
  • By doing this, the Echo will search for available Bluetooth devices, so put your speaker in pairing mode so that it appears in the list of available devices to pair with.

  • When you see it on the screen, tap on it and the link between the two speakers will be produced.

The link has been made, but this does not mean that the Echo will immediately sound through the external speaker. For this we will have to define that the external speaker is the main device to reproduce the sound, so you will have to configure it in the settings. To do this, click on the Change option in the Speaker section and once inside select the Bluetooth speaker as the output device.

From now on your Echo will sound through the Bluetooth speaker, and to check it you will only have to ask Alexa something. Alexa, what time is it?

If for some reason you turn off the speaker and need to reconnect it, you will not need to re-enter the application, or repeat the steps. You just have to tell Alexa ” Alexa, connect to Bluetooth ” for the connection to be established again. But make sure you have the speaker on and on battery power so I can do it.

This done, now you can improve the sound of the speaker with another of better quality, and you can take the sound elsewhere, but remember that if you want to communicate with Alexa you will have to do it close enough to the Echo so that its microphones can hear what you ask.
