Every time there are better options for mobile phones that go below 150 euros and among them we find two exponents that have practically everything we need. The well-known Poco M3 and Moto G9 Play have arrived this year 2020 with much to offer for very little money, raising serious doubts when choosing one or the other to buy.
Its many similarities in hardware make us have serious doubts when comparing them and to help you we are going to put each of its sections face to face. Once we finish, we will know their prices and we will make a decision based on the smartphone that offers the best benefits, being a benchmark in value for money.
Differentiated design and screens
At first glance, we are already faced with great changes between both models. The Poco M3 has added a design that radically changes its appearance with respect to other smartphones, using a vertical camera format but with a change of finish on the upper rear. Motorola is more classic and with a square format in the center, it offers us all its cameras, excluding the rear fingerprint reader next to its logo, something that Poco moves to the side, to the power button.

Ahead the notch in the form of a drop of water accompanied by both models on screens that differ, as Little improves the resolution in Full HD + and Moto remains in what seems somewhat scarce HD +. However, both have a 6.5-inch screen in bodies made of plastic for the Moto G9 Play design and of polycarbonate for the Poco M3. This allows them to be light, without waiting for 200 grams in both cases.
My processor but different options
There is no difference whatsoever in the operating brain between Xiaomi’s Poco M3 and Motorola’s Moto G9 Play, with the Snapdragon 662 as the leader. This 14 nanometer processor with 2 Ghz of power is accompanied by the Qualcomm Adreno 610 GPU to allow us good results in precariously everything, although not in demanding games or those that require many processes.

The options that are another very important point let us see that the Poco M3 is better equipped thanks to its options of 4 GB of RAM + 64 GB of memory or 4 + 128 GB. However, the Moto G9 Play only offers us 4 + 64 GB that although they can be expanded in March in the case of MicroSD, they seem short. They also share UFS 2.1 storage technology. and RAM LPDDR4X.
Cameras traced face to face
One point where we usually find important differences is in the lenses, but not this time. The two firms have opted for a camera setup that matches from start to finish . To start a 48 Mpx lens with the intention of getting the best detail with an aperture ƒ / 1.7. The second lens is the 2MP portrait mode and the third is the 2MP macro. But if we look at the selfie cameras, the 8 Mpx are again in the two models.

The video recording will also be very similar, with the only difference that the Poco M3 allows recording up to 4K and slow motion of 120 fps, to which Motorola is satisfied with 60 fps. The digital image stabilizer is in both, pro l oque the serine software options of the few differences.
Battery and connectivity
As expected in economic models, we only find 4G, but well accompanied by an audio jack input for our headphones or audio outputs, as well as Bluetooth 5.0 and FM Radio in both cases. The charging input is Type C, to power Motorola’s 5,000 mAh batteries and the unbeatable 6,000 mAh battery of the Poco M3 that promises to reach two days of use without messing up.

In fast charging there is another key point, because although both are well equipped, that battery plus of the Poco will not be noticed when charging it, by increasing the load to 18W and Motorola keeping it at the typical 15W.
MIUI 12 vs Android 10
The software of both smartphones changes a lot, first of all noting that Poco opts for MIUI 12, the latest version of Xiaomi’s layer with slight nuances. It keeps all the customization options, tricks and advanced settings that can sometimes be too many for those who do not want to complicate, but still very complete. On the other hand, the Moto G9 Play has Android 10 waiting to receive Android 11 in 2021. A more basic option that I try to make its use very intuitive so as not to complicate it with too many options.

Prices and purchase recommendation
Finally we know their prices to put ourselves in situation. The Poco M3 is currently at 150 euros in its version with 64 GB of memory, an offer that matches those offered by the Moto G9 Play. This places us in the face of equal prices, raising doubts when choosing.
In our option if we look at everything that both phones offer, the Poco M3 is a better purchase since its characteristics improve on screen, battery and video recording. Also, if we want an option with more memory, we can go for 128 GB of memory for a little more savings.
