Problems with apps like Netflix, HBO or YouTube

The first thing you should do is download the Google Home app responsible for linking all devices with each other via a Wi-Fi connection. When you install it, you must connect the Chromecast to the same Network in which you have the smartphone established and add the corresponding device through the app creating a new profile. The process is the same as you should follow with any Android smartphone.

Once configured, you must follow these steps

  1. Check that the Xiaomi smartphone with which you want to broadcast content is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast or TV with Chromecast integrated.
  2. Open an application compatible with Chromecast.
  3. Touch the send button identified as a rectangle with a wave icon like the one on the cover of this article.

And if the icon does not appear?

If you have two or more networks remembered by Chromecast or mobile, it may be automatically switched from one network to another depending on the signal strength. This can make the button to send content appear or not in applications.

If the problem persists, the error may be found in Chromecast, and not on your mobile. In this case you must restart it by accessing the Google Home app, clicking on the name of your Chromecast device, select Settings and, on the top right click on the 3-point icon to choose Reset factory status.

Problems with screen sharing

Xiaomi’s big problem with Chromecast after upgrading to MIUI 11 is the inability to replicate the mobile screen on TV. This is a problem recognized by the Chinese brand because now, Android 10 phones are only compatible with Miracast devices.

However there are 3 possible solutions:

Use Nova launcher

If you use Nova Launcher (or similar), you can add a shortcut on your home screen that takes you directly to the native streaming screen. To do this, touch and hold the home screen, add a widget and select Activities. In the list, which appears on the screen select Settings (the largest of the more than 200 options), and then select Cast. This will open the screen that allows you to connect to Chromecast on MIUI 11 .

Screen Mirroring TV

Use this app to be able to transmit your screen and contents stored on your mobile to your TV from a Xiaomi smartphone as you could do before the arrival of MIUI 11.

Roll back to MIUI 1st

There are mobiles that have anti rollback system that prevent returning to a previous version of MIUI. However, there is a smartphone that, if they have the bootloader unlocked, can use an app like DownMi to return to an earlier version of the operating system.

From here locate the version of MIUI 10 chosen for your device, download it and update the mobile manually from the Xiaomi Updater app.
