A few years ago, specifically, in 2013, we witnessed the end of the official Google Reader application, an RSS reader that allowed us to quickly organize and access all the news from those pages that we had decided to follow. Well, if for a few months we saw how a similar function had been implemented in the mobile version, the truth is that Chrome is experimenting again with a similar tool for the desktop version.
Many believed, from the end of Google Reader, that the end of RSS was also closer than ever. Although, since then, they have still been kept alive. And it is that there are many users, among which we include ourselves, those who use this type of tool on a daily basis to be able to be aware of everything that happens. And it is for this very reason that the company may want to bring back RSS feeds.

Chrome’s ‘Feed’ tool
Neither more nor less would we be facing a function that allows us to follow different websites to keep up to date with everything that happens in the world, or at least, what is being published by the pages that we have followed from this RSS reader. Specifically, this new functionality, which reminds us of Google Reader, offers us a ‘ Follow site ‘ button.
This tool appeared in the side panel of ChromeOS, and although it is in development, the version of ChromeOS 106 adds the option that we just mentioned. This ‘Follow’ button will allow us to quickly keep an eye on everything that is being published by the websites that we follow with this specific function, just like the RSS readers known as Feedly do.

Although, we still have to wait, since it is a feature that is not quite finished, and it does not even work, since it shows an error message that informs us of the following ‘ www.google.com refused to connect ‘.
In any case, everything indicates that users who use this tool will be able to follow a website and, in addition, a side panel will appear in the window in which, probably, the different contents that the websites that are publishing will be displayed. let’s keep going. Although, as we said, this interface does not work for now.
The function was already on mobile
However, despite the fact that it is still an experiment that has been tested in a specific version of Chrome, the truth is that it has been present for a few months in the mobile version. So, for example, Android mobiles can enjoy the RSS reader that is integrated into the version of the app.
However, keep in mind that you have to know how to enable this specific tool from the configuration options of the browser app for smartphones. Well, this functionality is not activated as standard, even if it is available. In addition, at first it was present in Android, and later, it arrived for the version of phones with iOS, Apple‘s operating system.
