How to Check if a Domain, IP and Email is Safe with SynapsInt

Every day we visit numerous web pages of various kinds. They are generally the same, and also reputable. We refer to the classics as information newspapers, sports newspapers and websites with prestige gained over the years. The problem is when you search for something specific, and you end up browsing little known websites that may have a good or bad reputation. This is where the SynapsInt tool comes in , which is used to check if a website is secure or not.

Today there is a transition to the digital world. The traditional newspapers that we have had so far, allow an annual or monthly subscription, and the paper is disappearing little by little. These types of companies of recognized prestige have their website that we know is trustworthy. But what do we do with unknown websites? Sometimes we sense that a website may not be secure, so it is time to turn to tools like SynapsInt to check it.

Check if a Domain, IP and Email is Safe with SynapsInt

What is SynapsInt and who is its creator

SynapsInt is a free OSINT tool that analyzes a domain, an IP, an email or a phone number. In case you don’t know OSINT Tool comes from Open Source Intelligence Tool, which, translated, means “Open Source Intelligence Tools”. To use SynapsInt, we have to go to its official website and the main screen will appear where we can analyze domain names, IP addresses, emails and also telephones.

As you can see, it is in charge of analyzing 4 aspects:

  1. Domain : analyzes a domain and tells us if it is safe.
  2. IP address : shows information such as the provider and more.
  3. Email : tells us if an email may have had a security breach.
  4. Phone : a new function that gives information about phone numbers.

Later we will discuss what each one offers. Now it’s time to talk about its creator and why he created this tool. The SynapsInt project developer is Moy Garciaguirre . He created it with the intention of fighting those who take advantage of COVID-19. Thanks to its tool, we can check if a URL is related to a phishing campaign or if it appears on a black list of suspicious sites. We will also find a lot of information related to a domain, an IP, virus analysis, open ports and vulnerabilities. Lastly, you have another project called Antiphishing Bot.

Analyzing a domain with this OSINT tool

Now is the time to check if a domain is safe, and therefore we can safely navigate through it. To do this in Domain , in the address bar of SynapsInt we write “https://www.redeszone.net/” or the web that we want to check and click on the Go button. Then it will show us these results:

The first thing to say is that the information in this section is a bit blurred. In other browsers the same thing has happened to us, you can see it and the creator will fix it in the future. On the left we have a Meta Analysis with the description of the website. On the right we see that it says This site is safe (this site is safe) and that it does not have adult content. In addition, in Safety Score shaded in dark blue, it gives a score of 100 which is the maximum that can be obtained.

IP Address in SynapsInt

If we want to use it on the main screen we touch on IP Address , in the address bar we put «8.8.8.8» or the IP that we want to check and click on the Go button. Then in the Summary section it will offer us this general information:

In this case we can obtain three interesting data:

  1. The provider is Telefónica.
  2. It is a static IP.
  3. As for the ports, we have active port 21 for an FTP service.

Now we go to the Blacklist section.

Here you can check that this IP is not on any blacklist and has not been used fraudulently. The other sections are:

  • Location : on a map it places you where that IP is located.
  • WHOIS : gives us additional information about the internet provider and the IP.

The Email and Phone section in SynapsInt

Now on the main screen we touch on Email , in the address bar we put «********@yahoo.es» or the email that we want to review and click on the Go button. Then a screen like the following will appear:

Here we see how the email is not on a blacklist, has no malicious activity, and its credentials have not been leaked. To finish we have the Phone section on the main screen. In the address bar we put the landline or mobile number that we want to review and click on the Go button. When entering the number, you must first add 34, which is that of Spain or the one that corresponds. At that time we will obtain that information.

Finally, we see that SynapsInt offers us the information that it is a Telefónica Spain mobile line.
