The wheels of PC chairs are, after all, a wear element. Being always in contact with the ground, moving and supporting our weight causes them to deteriorate quickly, and they are also prone to blocking over time due to dirt, so it is not uncommon that if the rest of the chair is in good condition you want to change the wheels. So, below we are going to show you how to change the wheels of your chair almost effortlessly and in a very short time.
Of course, just because your wheels are in bad shape doesn’t have to be the only reason you want to change them. As you probably already know, there are different types of wheels on the market for different types of floors, and you may want wheels that slide better or special ones so as not to damage wooden floors. Whatever the reason, let’s see what you should do to change them.

How to change the wheels on a PC chair
As a general rule, and if the chair is in good condition, you will not need to have any tools for this process, but in the event of a problem, you may need thick gloves (or a cloth) and a flat screwdriver or even 3 in 1 or some lubricant like the well-known WD-40. However, as we say, it is not usual to need any type of tool as long as the chair is in good condition.
The first step is to turn the chair on its side. Do it very carefully and positioning yourself in the front, because when you lay it down and direct the weight to one side it is possible that the wheels that are still supported will turn and the chair will beat you, hitting you in the legs.

Now that the chair is flat, what you need to do is simply pull each of the wheels out. Normally with doing some force you should be able to remove the wheel without too much trouble, but if it is too hard you should try to do it with a strong and dry movement.

If any of the wheels are stuck you have several options: you can spray the anchor with lubricant such as 3-in-1 or WD-40 and then pull the wheel out with a rag, or you can pry with a large enough flat screwdriver. One way or another, the wheels will end up coming off.

Once you have managed to remove all the wheels from the chair, we recommend that you take advantage of and clean the entire area well. In fact, if you have lubricant, we also recommend lubricating the area to facilitate the entry of the new wheels, but be careful not to add excess product so that it does not overflow and you put everything lost.
We understand that if you are going to change the wheels of your chair you have already bought a kit of wheels of the appropriate caliber, so now it simply remains to install them. To do this, simply align the wheel anchor with the hole in the chair support and push it in. Normally it is not necessary to apply too much pressure to make it fit perfectly (especially if you have previously lubricated it), but if it does not fit completely you do not have to worry too much.

Finally, carefully put the chair back on its feet and sit in it. If any of the wheels did not fit completely, we recommend you try to press down (for example, while sitting down, take a few “jumps” to increase the pressure) and in the end they will all end up being perfectly aligned (if not, the support it was not in good condition).
