The camera or better said, cameras of the Huawei P40 Pro has already passed the DxOMark analysis table, managing to rise ahead of its direct competitors such as the OPPO Find X2 Pro or the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro. Both its rear cameras and the camera front have obtained the best score, showing that Huawei has put a great focus on the set of cameras.
All its cameras have been evaluated one by one, showing us that the numbers on the table, for the 52 Mpx of the main lens or the wide angle of 40 Mpx, are capable of surprising. Without forgetting of course the ToF sensor that not only appears on the back, but as a great novelty integrates on the front with an IR sensor.
The Huawei P40 Pro and its camera stand out without messing up
With the technology applied in the cameras of this high-end smartphone, the dynamic range has been improved through artificial intelligence and the grouping of pixels. This allows that in the tests carried out we can see how in the most complicated situations the result is still good. This representation is reflected in the colors, white balance and details of the image, taking full advantage of the 52 Mpx of the main lens.
Another of the sections that have stood out is the automatic focus , due to its speed and precision, helped by the ToF sensor, sharp images are achieved quickly even in the ultra wide angle. This is reflected in the portrait mode for example, where very well outlined results are obtained without the slightest error and managing to highlight the subject as the center of attention.

By approving the 12 Mpx lens for the telephoto lens, the Huawei P40 Pro manages to become the mobile phone that generates the least noise , even outdoors in less favorable situations when compared to the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro or the iPhone 11 Pro Max. In tests, the DxOMark team staked the level of detail that the P40 Pro continues to maintain despite the distance, also assessing the color saturation, more true to reality.
The differences become more noticeable in the Huawei P40 Pro the more we increase the distance, managing to keep the smallest elements in detail , without generating any noise as previously mentioned and maintaining sharpness.
There are also negative aspects and to improve
Despite finding many positive points, there are some data that could be improved, for example, point errors found in underexposure of certain areas of the image or lack of detail on people’s faces with portrait mode.
As for the video, stabilization stands out, which if it was already very good in the previous generation with the Huawei P30 Pro, in this case follow the steps. In this section we can especially take advantage of the fast autofocus or the colors that it is capable of capturing with its cameras. Negative aspects of the video mention white balance errors and noise in textured areas.
