Bug on iPhone: Unlock Anyone’s iPhone with Calculator

The iPhone unlocking system has always been treated with great security. This is one of the most important barriers that prevents anyone without your authorization from using the iPhone. But the truth is that bugs are one of its worst enemies and especially when they start to go viral. This is what has happened with a recent bug that has begun to spread through Tik Tok that would allow anyone to access your device. We tell you all the details below.

Bug on iPhone:

Unlock iPhone via calculator

As we have commented, in the social network Tik Tok a video of a couple of young people has been viralized where you can see how they unlock an iPhone. But they do not do it in a ‘normal’ way through Face ID but rather it is done by flagrantly circumventing this security system. The truth is that the ease with which they do it is impressive, so that everyone can already fear leaving their mobile phones to anyone since they can access it relatively quickly.

Specifically in the video you can see that a person opens the control center of the iPhone by covering the front camera to prevent it from detecting the face. Then turn off mobile data, WiFi, and Bluetooth. Once this is done, click on airplane mode to activate it and leave the iPhone without any type of connection. When this is completed you must allow the iPhone screen to rotate.

When you have done all this, open the calculator from the shortcut that can be found in the control center. When you open it, turn the mobile to have it in a horizontal position to open the scientific calculator options. Once you are here you just have to click on the decimal point, followed by the ‘ln’ button. If all goes well, the calculator should throw an error that is eliminated with the ‘Rad’ button. When removing it, swipe up to have the iPhone fully unlocked.

Apple is already working on the solution

Without a doubt we are facing a very important security failure since it leaves the iPhone completely unprotected. In a very simple way you can access all the information on the device without it being yours. What is really interesting is how convoluted is the system that must be used in order to generate the problem that causes the bug to completely unlock the iPhone.

Although Apple is already aware of this security flaw and they are already working on them. In the tests that have been carried out in this writing in the beta of iOS 14.6, it is not allowed to make a turn of the calculator when the iPhone is locked while in previous versions this does not happen having the possibility of accessing all the keys. This means that the solution is closer and closer to being a reality, although a priori it is possible that a ‘cumulative’ update will be released to be able to solve it before the arrival of iOS 14.6.

Although, other solutions that arise in the short term is to disable access to the control center when the iPhone is locked. This is achieved by following the path Settings> Face ID and code. Within these options, simply deactivating the option ‘Allow access when blocked’ in the control center, the security problem is solved.
