a few hours ago, its developers released a new version of this distro, 2020.12.01 . This new version is a maintenance update that comes with a significant number of changes, improvements and news as we will see below.
What’s new in BlackArch Linux 2020.12.01
The first changes that we are going to find in this new distro are an update of the main packages of the program. Thus, for example, we will find a Linux Kernel 5.9.11 , with the latest version of all the packages that make up the distro, new versions of the BlackArch tools and the VIM plugins updated to their most recent versions. All the menus in the window managers, such as Awesome, Fluxbox and OpenBox, have also been updated. Even the distro installer has been updated, optimizing the process and improving some bugs.
The LIVE ISO image has been renamed ” FULL ISO “. The process of creating an ISO image has also been adapted to the new version of ArchISO, although there is still work ahead in this regard.
Finally, it should be noted that the developers have taken advantage of this new version to add 100 more new tools to the list of programs, they have removed unnecessary packages and files from the suite and, in addition, they have solved a large number of runtime problems and dependencies .

This new version is now available to all users. If we still do not have this system downloaded or installed, we can download the latest version for free from the following link . We can download the Full ISO , which brings all the packages of the distro, or the NetInstall to install it from the network. We can also download images already created for VMware and VirtualBox virtual machines. These images are specially prepared to work best in virtual machines without problems and without having to configure anything. Of course, the download of the OVA occupies almost 30 GB, it must be taken into account.
Update to the latest version of BlackArch
As this distro is based on Arch Linux, the way to update to the latest version is the same as the original distro. Therefore, if we already have a previous version of BlackArch installed on the PC, we can update by executing the following command in a terminal:
sudo pacman -Syu
