The natural step would have been to move to MIUI 13, but the company has pulled out of its sleeve an intermediate version, called MIUI 12.5 that has great news, but also some shortcomings.
Many of the news in MIUI 12.5 are focused on privacy , which is good news in times where it is always in question. Once again, part of these novelties are given by the contributions of the Xiaomi community itself, which are what are actually shaping this layer, which has been improving year after year.

It is a purely aesthetic novelty, but everyone likes to keep their mobile careful in this regard. We are facing one of the star functions of MIUI 12.5. Finally, Xiaomi has its own desktop mode and will allow you to see duplicate notifications, copy text on the mobile and paste it on the PC screen, as well as open screenshots of the terminal directly on the PC. It is a function that could be very useful for many users and that solves many of the interaction problems that exist between the mobile and the PC.
What we miss
However, there is always some shadow among so much light. In the case of MIUI 12.5 and although Xiaomi must be applauded in general, we miss something. First of all, we see that once again, outstanding functions such as Super Wallpapers or MIUI + will not be compatible with all devices, as was already the case with MIUI 12. Xiaomi has not managed to integrate all the news globally in its entire portfolio. Xiaomi mobiles with a Snapdragon 800 series processor will be the ones that can run these developments, so there are a good handful that are left out.
We also see that Xiaomi has reduced the number of essential system applications. This is positive a priori to have less bloatware, but many users will miss some applications that they already considered essential. The ideal would have been to offer the option in the initial settings of the operating system, checking or unchecking the boxes of the system applications that we want or not to have installed.
