The range of Apple computers has grown over the years to the point where there is practically a computer model for every type of user and their needs. From MacBooks, Apple laptops, to the Mac Pro, the most powerful desktop ever created by the Cupertino company. In this post we are going to do a review of all Apple computer models and we will also recall some longed-for relics.
Mac mini, Apple’s entry-level desktop range
When was the first Mac mini released?
If we look in the history of Apple which was the first Mac mini marketed by the Cupertino company we have to go back to 2005, specifically to the month of January 2005 when Apple unveiled the world the first Mac mini, a highly inspired computer on an earlier model from the company, the Power Mac G4 Cube. It also did it with a very affordable price, only $ 499 its most basic version available in a single color, silver.

Changes introduced throughout history
When we talk about the Mac mini, we are talking about a device that despite being a desktop computer, has really small dimensions, hence the name that Apple gave to this device. However, in 2010, Apple did a major design makeover by actually making the Mac mini “mini.” Until then the dimensions were small, especially if we compare it with the desktop that there were at that time.
We can even consider that the latest renewal of this device, in which Apple has introduced its own M1 chip in this device, is also a great leap since, in some way, it has endowed this device with a power and features that even he hadn’t enjoyed the moment.
One of the curious points of this Apple computer is that, even today, the Mac mini is the only Apple computer that the company sells without peripherals, that is, you only buy the computer, and you have to buy it separately. both the screen, the keyboard and the mouse or trackpad.

Which audience is it aimed at according to its benefits?
Historically, the Mac mini has been intended for an audience that had very basic demands in terms of power and performance, since the use of the computer was intended to surf the Internet and perform office automation work. In addition, one of the peculiarities of this device is that, if you only buy the Mac mini, you will not be able to use it, since you have to buy, separately, both the screen and the keyboard and mouse or trackpad.
However, as we mentioned before, the Mac mini’s performance has been considerably increased after the last renovation in which Apple has introduced the M1 chip, which has given it a power and performance that it had not had until now, making it a device that can be taken into account by a much wider audience with more demanding needs.

iMac, the computer everyone wants
First iMac released
To find the first iMac that Apple launched, we have to go back even a century. We are in 1998, specifically in the month of May. That was the date chosen by Apple to introduce the world to the first iMac known as the G3, a range of computers desired by virtually any Apple user.
This launch was the result of the return of Steve Jobs to Apple, which aimed to launch a desktop computer that was capable of one of the main elements of a desktop computer, the tower, making the entire CPU to be inside the same monitor, an idea that broke with the concept of a computer and that persists today, being one of the hallmarks of the iMac.
The initial price of this device started at 1299 dollars, so from the beginning it was a device with a high price that, in addition, the maximum memory configuration it had was 256 MB.

Changes introduced over the years
When talking about iMac we have to talk about the change, as we mentioned previously, the fact that the entire CPU will be integrated into the body of the monitor and in this way the tower could be dispensed with, it was already a really big change. However, the iMac itself has also undergone changes throughout its history, some more striking than others.
The first iMac models had a really bulky screen and it was the Bondi Blue model that was the best seller with its translucent sea blue covering that referenced a Bondi beach in Sidnei. Later, in 1999 Apple gave the possibility of acquiring this iMac in up to 5 different colors, which made reference to five different fruits: Tangerine, Grape, Violet, Blueberry and Lime.
The first change of the iMac came with the iMac G4 or also known by the iMac lamp for the aesthetics of the device that resembled or reminded that of a lamp, it was in 2002. Apple wanted to bet on a very modern design, in which He differentiated two parts of the device, the screen, available in 15, 17 and 20 inches, and the base on which the screen was held, where he placed the CPU.
In 2004 came the first iMac model that closely resembles what we have today. Apple wanted, with the iMac G5 model to reintroduce the entire CPU behind the screen, which in this case was available in 17 and 20 inches.

One of the biggest changes came in 2006, not so much on an aesthetic level, since the iMac Core Duo closely resembles the iMac G5, but inside. This iMac was the first Apple personal computer to have an Intel chip, which caused the iMac’s capacity to increase considerably, providing it with more power and better performance.
In this way we come to 2007, where the change was once again in the aesthetics of the iMac, thanks to the iMac Core 2 Duo, a computer that was made of aluminum and glass, breaking with the plastic used so far. The change in manufacturing material was not the only notable difference with respect to the previous model, but the screen also saw its thickness lowered, offering an aesthetic, overall, of being a much more sophisticated product.
Two years later, in 2009 the iMac Core iX arrives with Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processors and a slight, almost priceless redesign. In this case the available screen sizes were 21.5 and 27 inches. Finally we come to the current iMac, the thinnest to date that was presented in 2012. With this renewal, Apple broke the streak of more than 500 days without renewing this device, and did so with a completely renewed model that is characterized by the thinness of the body and premium aesthetics as well as elegant of this device.
Target of this type of computers
The iMac is a product that is suitable for practically any user. Depending on the demands for the use that the user has, the chosen configuration will vary, but it is a reliable computer that will work perfectly for many years. Acquiring an iMac is synonymous with durability, quality and reliability, therefore, the purchase of it is completely advisable to all those users who are willing to spend a little more than a thousand euros on a computer that, without a doubt, will more than meet expectations. .

Aesthetically, the iMac Pro is a 27-inch iMac to which Apple has given an exclusive color never seen before in an iMac, the famous and already common in other space gray products and that, without a doubt, gives a spectacular aesthetic both to the screen as well as its peripherals that also adopt that space gray color that, without a doubt, makes it very special.

Obviously, the surname Pro of this iMac is not the result of the space gray color, but of the specifications that this device enjoys, which although, in 2017, when it was launched, were superior to those of its little brothers, today Today’s highest-spec 27-inch iMac has outperformed the iMac Pro so it is, at the moment, on somewhat uncertain ground, possibly awaiting a refresh from the Cupertino company.

Mac Pro the computer for the privileged few
When was the first Mac Pro released?
As the years passed, Apple was providing computers for all types of users, and in August 2006 it launched the first Mac Pro, Apple’s most powerful computer, the range dedicated to the most demanding professionals who need enormous power and features to be able to carry out all your ideas and work.
In the same way that at the performance level it is a computer that is only reserved for a minority that really need this power to carry out their work, the same happens with the price, which is in line with their capabilities and again, reserved only for a privileged few.

Changes introduced over the years
Curiously, the Mac Pro is the only computer that complies with the initial idea of Apple’s desktop computer, since from its birth until today, the Mac Pro does have a tower as it happens with traditional computers. This is a point of difference in the design line of Apple, whose desktop computers lack the characteristic tower.
From its launch in August 2006, Apple has introduced few but notable changes to the Mac Pro, that if it took a long time since until 2013 the Cupertino company did not make a facelift to the Mac Pro as far as design is concerned. Users went from having a traditional tower to a device that looked like a black trash can, whose design was very striking and characteristic. In 2019 Apple returned to practically the same proportions and design to the Mac Pro, leaving aside the design change that occurred with the Mac Pro in December 2013.

Mac Pro Target Audience
As we mentioned before, the Mac Pro is a computer that is reserved for a minority that needs extreme power to carry out their work and ideas. In fact, the Mac Pro is the only Apple desktop computer that has standard expansion slots for graphics cards and other expansion cards.

MacBook Air, Apple’s most popular laptop
Year of release of the first
The MacBook Air is a product that seems to have been with us all our lives, however, the birth of this Apple laptop is relatively recent since it was in 2008 when Apple introduced and launched the thinnest laptop in history. In addition, it should be mentioned that this laptop was the first Mac that had an SSD storage as an official option, in the same way it was the first Mac that did not have an optical disc reader.
We can say that the MacBook Air led the way in the notebook industry, which has since drifted towards much thinner devices despite cutting back on performance. Even within the Cupertino company itself, the MacBook Air paved the way for all the other laptops to come. In this way we have seen how the MacBook Pro has been resembling its aesthetics to this, making each time a lighter and thinner product, that is, in this case being able to opt for very high performance and features.

This is how the MacBook Air has changed
As we said, the birth of the MacBook Air was a turning point in the world of laptops, since Apple offered with this device something never seen before, a really thin, elegant and easily transportable laptop thanks to its dimensions, thickness and weight. Presenting such a modern device meant that the MacBook Air in later years did not undergo too many modifications, beyond going to a 13-inch screen, gradually decreasing its thickness or adopting the retina screen of its older brother, the MacBook Pro.
Perhaps the strongest change that the MacBook Air has undergone we witnessed not long ago, when Apple introduced new colors, removed all the ports to allow only USB-C and introduced Touch ID as the method of unlocking the most famous laptop in Manzana.

The absence of a major renovation for several years could have been caused by the birth of a competitor within Apple itself, the MacBook. In fact, as a result of the presentation of this laptop, a current of thought was created that bet on the disappearance of the MacBook Air to make way for the MacBook as an entry laptop. Finally it was not like that, in fact, just the opposite happened, a somewhat high price compared to MacBook features made Apple finally bet on the MacBook Air.
Which audience is it aimed at according to its benefits?
The MacBook Air has been and is so successful for two points, the first, the groundbreaking design with which it was born, accompanied by such striking dimensions and weight, made the MacBook Air the perfect laptop for most users. To this must be added that, over time, it became Apple’s cheapest laptop, being able to buy it for up to less than a thousand euros, making it accessible to a much larger audience.
Given its features, the MacBook Air is an ideal device for those users who do not need very high performance since the use of the laptop is intended to carry out daily tasks such as browsing the Internet and office automation, with the possibility of doing homework. more demanding in a timely manner. Although perhaps, this label we have to modify it thanks to the fact that, currently with the M1 chip developed by Apple itself, the MacBook Air enjoys a performance and power that it had not had until now, capable of giving many more users that necessary power for video editing, for example.

MacBook Pro, the power made portable
When was the first MacBook Pro released?
The birth of the MacBook Pro, surely one of the best products as a whole that Apple has carried out occurred in 2006, when it was presented by Steve Jobs himself during the MacWorld Expo. As is often the case with Apple products, the MacBook Pro, initially impressed everyone due to its design and that it broke with the usual aesthetics of laptops. Apart from the disruptive design, it also stood out for having a FireWire 800 port, an iSight camera and the MagSafe charger.
With the launch of the MacBook Pro, Apple gave users a laptop with a completely new design, but without having to give up the power necessary to carry out demanding tasks from anywhere.

Evolution of the MacBook Pro
The birth of the MacBook Pro was already a really big change in the world of laptops, but also, this device was one of the laptops that was always at the forefront in terms of technology. For the first two years since its inception, the MacBook Pro was one of the first computers to feature the Intel Core duo and later Intel Core 2 Duo processors. It had 320GB of storage, which was really important at the time.
With this device, Steve Jobs paved the way for notebooks, a notebook that was completely renewed in 2008, placing special emphasis on design, greatly improved and on providing greater autonomy and more power. This change meant saying goodbye to the removable battery, which made the MacBook Pro have a better autonomy. The performance of these improved thanks to the incorporation of the Intel i3, i5 and i7 processors.
4 years after that first renewal, the second took place, a change of scene that brought the MacBook Pro closer to its little brother, the MacBook Air, in terms of design, since the thickness of the device was considerably reduced . The highlight of this renovation was the screen with which the Cupertino company gave the apple professional laptop, the famous Retina screen, a very high resolution screen that had more than 5.1 million pixels. It should also be mentioned that with this generation, the MacBook Pro began to have SSD storage units, without a doubt, a leap in quality.

We hit October 2016, and we witness the latest major revamp to the MacBook Pro range thus far. Again, Apple returns to renew the design of a device truly adored by all users who enjoy it every day. The Oled screen technology delights users who enjoy it, in addition, the Cupertino company introduces the Touch Bar, a touch bar on the keyboard that the user can customize to their liking in each of the applications they use.
In 2020 the company makes a historic move, begins to manufacture its own chips for its own computers, and the MacBook Pro is one of the first devices, along with the Mac mini and MacBook Air, to have the privilege of mounting the M1 chip from Apple, a change, that although, physically or aesthetically does not take place, since the body of the MacBook Pro is the same, internally it does represent a really giant change, a new era in Apple computers. The MacBook Pro with the M1 chip makes a leap again, in features, performance and power.
Who is the MacBook Pro for?
Apple has perfectly known how to focus each laptop on a very specific audience and this MacBook Pro is reserved for all those users who want a laptop capable of giving them all the necessary power to carry out any task or work they need. We could classify it as the power with legs, thanks to its design and size it is capable of performing any task anywhere.
Another of the strengths of the MacBook Pro is its durability, a device capable of working as well as the first day for years and years regardless of the updates and use that may be given to it. Therefore, any user who wants a very powerful laptop, comfortable to transport and with a long life, the MacBook Pro is your computer.

Apple computers that are no longer for sale
There are countless Apple computers that are no longer for sale, however there are some mythical models that you have probably heard about. Here are some that, at least in our opinion, have a greater value in the history of the company.
Apple I
Apple’s first computer. It went on sale in July 1976 and only 200 units were manufactured. The peculiar thing about this computer is that it really was a completely assembled circuit board, which contained 62 chips and for which a case, a transformer for a power supply, a power switch, an ASCII keyboard had to be purchased separately. and a screen.

Apple Lisa
The Apple Lisa is a computer ahead of its time, perhaps that was the reason why it was not commercially successful at the time. But really, this computer was a pioneer in integrating a set of technological advances at the hardware and software level that later became the industry standards such as the mouse, a user interface, the hard disk or virtual memory, among others. .

Macintosh 128K
This is the first Macintosh, announced in 1983 and featured in a famous 1984 commercial aired in the third quarter of the Super Bowl. With it came two applications designed to display its graphical interface, MacPaint and MacWrite. The first demonstration was made by Steve Jobs, which became the first of his famous keynote speeches.

iMac G3
On May 6, 1998 Steve Jobs presented a color iMac, we are exactly talking about iMac G3 that enjoyed a very wide range of colors, something unusual if we talk about an Apple computer. In addition to this, another of the curious points of this iMac was that it had a handle to transport it. This computer helped Apple to get out of a small economic downturn since it was in a financial free fall. Among the different colors, the one that stood out the most was Bondi Blue.

Powerbook
We are in 1991 when Apple launches three PowerBooks, the first three Apple notebooks, and the parents, so to speak, of the current MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. The three computers were the PowerBook 100, considered Apple’s low-end notebook, the PowerBook 140, the mid-range, and the PowerBook 170, the high-end notebook. These three laptops made a lot of noise in the industry due to their compact cases, the incorporation of a trackball, and the keyboard layout that left room for wrist rest.
