One of the mobiles that are giving more to talk through leaks by Xiaomi is the Xiaomi Mix 5. Terminal that has not stopped surprising us, because according to the latest information, it will differ significantly from the rest of the models presented, even with the Xiaomi 12. It will come true with a new self-developed processor.
Possibly, you are familiar with the Surge C1, the chip that we could see on board the Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold cameras and that allowed us to take a leap in quality. Well this time, if everything runs its course we will see the new version, the so-called Surge C2 . Processor that has been seen in the internal code of the Mix 5 Pro model, which suggests that perhaps the first version will be seen again in the Mix 5.
Xiaomi cameras go for the professional level
Although MIUI has successively been integrating changes in the processing to achieve more realistic and attractive results, the firm seems to need a resounding change. After taking its first steps with the so-called Surge C1 chip, it goes back to the image processing that the Qualcomm Snapdragon and MediaTek chips offer by default to carry out its own development. The same Google has done with the Pixel 6 and the so-called Google Tensor.
This offers greater freedom when it comes to treating images and videos to the Chinese brand. Getting together some lenses of possibly 50 Mpx in the main section, 48 Mpx for the wide angle and a large telephoto lens, the results are surprising on their own merits. There are those who do not lose hope that the collaboration with Leica will arrive, but this seems unlikely for now.
We cannot ignore that this could offer even better results in the camera under the screen, which in the Xiaomi Mix 4 also made its first steps. In this case it would be achieved that the front lens can be adapted in a better way to let the light pass to the selfie camera sensor and that, therefore, the results are sharper. But above all, the improvements would be focused on the rear lenses, with results that are not varied only in what we see at the end of the sessions, also at the same moment since speed will be gained or battery consumption will be improved.
The main chip will remain from Qualcoom
As much as Xiaomi has developed a new version of its own processor, it is not doing so at the moment with the intention of unseating the star processors. The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will continue to be the key element that moves applications and the entire system. This has an extensive evolution over time and it is not easy to create a new one that is capable of equaling or exceeding it.
It will take a while for that Surge chip to stand up to the processors in charge of everything. At first, you will have to prove your photographic solvency, trusting that this model ends up arriving in Spain so that we can put to the test what it is capable of achieving.
