If you have an Android Auto system built into your vehicle, you probably experience the annoying process of having to connect the cable to your phone on a daily basis to enjoy the advanced navigation that Google’s system offers. Well, this little device promises to save you all kinds of cables.
AAWireless Android Auto over WiFi
The idea that this small connection box proposes is very simple. You will only have to connect it to the USB port of your vehicle so that from then on your phone activates Android Auto without the need for a cable . The process is quite simple, but to get there, its creator, Emil Borconi-Szedressy, has had to reverse engineer the system in order to understand exactly how the Android Auto applications work.
The result is this little box with a USB port that makes things incredibly simple. With a size of 5 centimeters, the box is capable of creating a wireless network in which the phone will have to connect to make the connection, so that the vehicle’s infotainment system recognizes the phone and immediately launches the Android Auto interface.
A project with funding
For this project to come to fruition, its creator is requesting financing through Indiegogo, so that if it reaches the 185,000 euros that it needs, it can take the idea to production. For just over 45 euros we can get a unit thanks to the 15% discount offered in the campaign, and the idea is that the product can be sent from December of this year.
The campaign has reached half of the collection that it maintains as a goal in its first hours, so, if it maintains the good rhythm, it is very possible that the project will end up very soon.
The amount of 185,000 euros might seem somewhat high if we compare it with the goals of other crowdfunding projects, but its creator affirms that he needs to produce a minimum of 3,000 units in the SBS plate manufacturer that he has found according to his needs.
What does it need to function?
It is important to clarify that for the AAWireless to work we need a vehicle that already has Android Auto, since its function is to offer wireless connectivity to the system, not that of equipment with Android Auto to a vehicle that does not have it. It is something important that you must understand.
On the other hand, the phone must have Android version 9 or higher, and in the case of having a WiFi point integrated in your vehicle, you will only have to connect the AAWireless and the phone to that same network so that they continue to be seen and the system works smoothly.
