We had been waiting since the summer for Google to activate the Coolwalk design in Android Auto , which was considered a revolution for those of us who use Google Maps daily or frequently next to our car. However, it took several months for the company to get ready to activate it and we could see it, although the positive news we received a few weeks ago has not helped much.
When we all threw confetti and celebrated that the Android Auto 8.5 version brought with it the Coolwalk system, no one considered the situation that we were going to find ourselves in later and that we are currently experiencing. Usually, when a new version is released, the changes are first applied to its beta model and a few days or weeks later it reaches the rest, although in this case, the news continues to be difficult and there is no trace of the changes.
In Android Auto beta Coolwalk does not work either
The strangest situation and the one that is leaving the most confusion among Android Auto users is repeated in the vast majority of those who are in the beta version. In your case, you should already be able to enjoy Coolwalk, but without going any further from reality, it is impossible. In a survey carried out by Android Central, we can see how of all those who are already in the beta version, only half have received the appearance change promised by Google.
As much as we try to get into the beta program of this app , it is practically impossible to achieve it, since the positions are in high demand and although in our case we have constantly accessed to find our place, it has been impossible. In any case, with the news that we have just learned, it would not be of much use, since the activation is being carried out remotely and we might have to continue waiting to get a change of scenery.
Is it a car problem?
This situation is beginning to raise many questions and doubts about who will be able to enjoy the design change to Coolwalk. There are those who wonder if the problem is with the screen of their vehicle , although this should not be the case. The main advantage of the redesign is that it can be adapted to practically any panel format, both horizontally and vertically and in practically any size, which is why the modules have gained prominence. What’s more, in different images published on the net, we have already been able to see different adaptations.
The other big question lies in mobile phones, on which cars depend to be able to start Android Auto by cable or wirelessly. This could be one of the reasons why so few people today can activate the system . We do not know if there is any limitation that prevents this change from having any effect on phones with Android 11 or lower versions, but where it should work perfectly is on Android 12 and Android 13.
At the moment we can only wait for the system change to be released, which is already more than 4 months late and once and for all, a much-needed novelty is standardized. We understand that polishing such a big change takes time and its main purpose will be to prevent bugs, although the lack of the change in the beta itself makes us suspicious.
