However, this Google mobile solution may occasionally fail , with no apparent explanation found.
Android Auto is the ideal solution to get in the car and not touch the mobile at all. Many of the traffic accidents occur when the driver looks away from the road (one second is enough) to grab the phone and look at a notification, change a song or take calls. None of this is necessary with Android Auto when connecting mobile and vehicle in a secure way allowing voice commands or altering the interface of the screen of our device.

Check compatibility
Android Auto is compatible with mobiles running Android 5.0 or higher, so it can cause problems with older mobiles and may be the cause of the error in some cases. Even Android 5 may not work correctly, since Google itself recommends at least having Android 6 or a higher version.
Update the system
We must have installed all the updates of the system and the multimedia and messaging applications compatible with Android Auto to continue using the service and that it works normally. If all the applications are up to date, we should try turning off the phone and turning it on again.
Car display problem
If we use Android Auto with the car screen, we must make sure that our car model supports this option. In this list you can check the compatibility by brand with its different models. If your car is not listed it may be the cause of instability problem with Android Auto.
It can be the USB cable
Google itself indicates that some USB cables only work in certain cars . To avoid the problem we must follow the following recommendations
- Buy a quality cable or try another
- Use a cable whose length does not exceed 1.82 meters
- Avoid extension cords
- Check that the cable has the USB icon
Try another car
It is the best method of ruling out and knowing where the problem comes from. For this we will have to disconnect the mobile from the car and open the Android Auto application on our phone. Then we touch on the options menu and click on Settings / Connected cars. Now we will have to uncheck the box next to the option “Add new cars to Android Auto” and finally try to connect the phone to the new vehicle.
The app stops
Another of the most common problems of Android Auto is that it stops or closes after having been running for a while. In this case, the best option is to delete the application and cache data , since some temporary file may be corrupting its normal operation. For this we go to the settings of our mobile and click on Applications. Now we must find Android Auto and click on “Clear data and clear cache”
Android Auto won’t open
If the app is installed but fails to open, it may be due to a known bug with Google Play Services. The solution is to delete the data of this application from the system. To do this we go to Settings / Applications / Manage Applications. Then, from the entire list that the mobile shows us, we must go to Google Play Services. Once located, tap on it and press “Clear Data and Cache”. Then we restart the mobile and try to enter Android Auto again.
Permission problem
Android Auto will only work properly if all permissions have been accepted. Otherwise, it will be impossible for bine to work and the errors will appear soon. It is possible that during the installation process we left some pending, or that they were revoked for any other reason. In any case we can check it from Settings / Applications / Android Auto. Once inside, click on the “Permissions” and check that they are all accepted. Another method of getting out of this problem is to delete the application and reinstall it to grant all zero permissions.
Available in your country?

Voice problems
Voice commands are an important part of Android Auto to operate the device without touching it. However, they may also experience problems on some occasions. Google itself is aware of the problem and suggests some possible solutions:
- If we use the voice command button on the steering wheel, we must hold it down until we hear the beep. If you don’t press and hold it long enough, you may need to exit Android Auto and start it again.
- We will have to start talking after hearing the Android Auto beep. The beep sound is confirmation that Android Auto is listening.
- When we talk, we should try as much as possible to minimize the noise around us.
- If you use an after-sales receiver, check that the microphone works correctly. If you don’t know for sure, check with the installer.
