AMD releases new drivers with small and insubstantial fixes

Once again we have an update to AMD graphics drivers, and as always this brings support for new technologies and features, as well as bug fixes for certain games and applications on Radeon RX graphics cards, as well as optimized settings for the latest released games for better performance. Let’s see, therefore, what the Adrenalin 22.10.2 WHQL drivers bring us.

It is not very normal to see drivers when there has not been any important release in the form of a new graphics card model, in any case, since AMD will launch the first models of its graphics cards with RDNA 3 architecture in a few weeks, we should expect an update in less than a month. So we are facing an update mainly designed to solve existing errors.

AMD releases new drivers

What problems do the Adrenal 22.10.2 WHQL drivers fix?

Well, several different problems are the ones that have been resolved in this new graphics driver for AMD graphics cards. For example, it happened that many times if the HDR was activated, the FidelityFX Super Resolution did not do it in games. Fixed an issue that left vertical sync permanently disabled, resulting in stuttering issues, an issue that also occurred when playing video in Chromium-based browsers and has also been resolved, along with to the loss of frames when reproducing them.

As for more specific problems, we found that if we have an Oculus Quest 2 connected to our PC, then the Oculus Dashboard did not stay fixed. Another important problem was when editing with Vegas Pro, where when previewing the timeline some colors appeared inverted. Keep in mind that these problems have been solved with the new driver and even if you don’t have them, it is always advisable to have the graphics card up to date in terms of drivers, since with this you will solve a good part of the common problems that usually exist with certain applications. .

Problems still to be solved

As usual, AMD has published a list of issues that they are aware of that exist, that have not been fixed with the Adrenalin 22.10.2 WHQL drivers, but that are likely to be resolved in future updates.

  • The graphics card usage value stalls at 100% in the Radeon Performance metrics when some games are closed on the Radeon 570.
  • If we use Radeon Anti-Lag then we can hear a beep when pressing the Shift and Backspace keys. AMD hopes to fix this issue for version 22.11.1 of its drivers.
  • Elite Dangerous does not start when played on RX 6000, resolution of this issue is planned for drivers 22.10.3
  • Stuttering issues when playing video through the RX 6900 XT’s hardware video codec when using the Firefox browser.
  • Graphic artifacts when going from windowed to full screen in some games.

Of all of them, the one that we see as least likely to be solved is that of the Radeon 570 as it is a model already out of the market and has such a specific problem. As for Elite Dangerous, let’s hope they do it soon, although it could well be a problem with the game itself, rather than with the drivers.
