After surpassing 50 million active Fire TV users per month (said soon), Amazon has announced an update that will arrive on your device in the next few days. The team, a perfect tool to take your smart TV anywhere, is now perfected with several (small) changes that will make using it an even better experience. Do you want to know what they are? Aim.
Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick Lite improvements
The Fire TV Stick device has become one of the best solutions available today to enjoy a Smart TV practically anywhere. As you already know, it is that device gives the television to which it is connected its own platform for access to multiple contents, with its own interface, applications of all kinds and, of course, the assistance of the omnipresent Alexa.
Now these good virtues are improved with some changes that the company has decided to introduce, thus updating its qualities. What do these changes consist of) Well, basically a modification of the design and the user interface, which will make it easier for you to move even more easily through its options, perform searches or enjoy an even more intelligent voice assistant.
The changes you will see are the following:
- New design for navigation : in the main menu, which is located in the center of the screen, you can access the main action tabs such as: Home, Search, Library or Profiles, among others. Clicking up will allow you to discover popular content and watch video trailers for series and movies, while clicking down will allow you to browse carousels of content.
- New Start screen : now you will see recommendations for shows and movies from different streaming services (Prime Video’s not lacking, of course), as well as free content with advertising, such as the YouTube app.
- Search engine improvements: in the Search tab you can filter by type of content or categories.
- Alexa more present than ever: in the user interface itself you could use commands that execute actions such as “Alexa, show me comedy movies” to access this category without having to lift a finger, or “Alexa, go to Search”, to directly open the browser. You will also have Alexa Explore -although this function will arrive early next year- where you can discover assistant functions or see all your connected home devices.
- User profiles: you can create up to six different profiles so that each member of your household has a more personalized access adapted to their tastes and uses.
- Additional information without interruption : You will be able to see certain information on the screen without interrupting the TV viewing experience when you ask Alexa (for example, about the weather).
- Ring notifications: if you have a Ring Doorbell smart caller, you will receive a notification on your TV screen when the doorbell rings, being able to see who is calling just by asking Alexa (and even establishing a communication).
Fire TV Cube also receives improvements
Although the Fire TV Stick is the most popular and marketed piece of equipment, Amazon hasn’t forgotten about its new Cube. The equipment, which was recently launched by the company, has also been updated with a new video conferencing function that we already explained to you a few days ago, showing you how to make video calls with the Fire TV Cube.
By synchronizing an external webcam with the device, you can in this way receive and make video calls with the help of Alexa, being able to communicate with another person who has the same configuration established in their Cube, the Alexa mobile application or even an Echo Show speaker .
When will your Fire TV be updated?
Amazon has not given a specific update date for the Fire TV and has only announced that in the next few days , the news will reach the devices. You have no choice but to be a little patient – this type of news is always released by “waves” – and wait for either a warning to appear or directly for new features on your computer.
