Ford seems to be understanding the idea of how today’s vehicles should evolve, and the solution is simply to allow them to improve over time, thus preventing them from becoming obsolete within a few years. Updates to improve
In the same way that a mobile phone or a computer receives new functions through system updates, vehicles can also benefit from these advantages with a simple OTA update. It is something that Tesla has been boasting since its inception, since they conceive the vehicle as an improvable service rather than an expired product.
Well, Ford has just announced that it is going to launch an OTA update for many of its latest models with which to include Alexa as a smart assistant in its vehicles, thus allowing its customers to have the voice assistant directly in their vehicle, for so they would be able to turn on the house lights simply by reciting the appropriate voice command from their vehicle.
Ford Power-Up update
Under the name Ford Power-Up , the brand has launched a series of very important updates that directly affect the connectivity of many of its vehicles. The first models to receive this new version of the software were the F-150 and Mustang Match-E, and it is now that a new download is available to introduce one of the most attractive changes that have been included so far.
Alexa in your Ford
We talk about the arrival of Alexa as the perfect co-pilot for your trips. It is a new update that will be available very soon and that will allow you to use the Amazon assistant in the vehicle. According to Ford figures, some 700,000 vehicles in the United States and Canada will benefit from these new additions, and in the coming years millions will enjoy the novelties.
Ford Models Receiving Alexa
It will be from autumn when the update with Alexa begins to reach the most modern Ford vehicles with SYNC 4. These are the models that will receive the update:
- Rough
- Edge
- F-150
- Mustang Match-E
- Super duty
For now, the United States and Canada will be the countries that will receive the new update package, and indicate that the rest of the regions will do so later (we do not know exactly when it will arrive in Europe).
You can also draw on your car
Another curious application that will arrive with the system update is Sketch, a tool that will be used to take notes, draw on the screen and even play simple games. It is a rather curious application of which we do not know exactly how useful it can be in a practical case, but it does not hurt to have it at hand for what may happen.
