Xiaomi scooters could have a loudspeaker to make noise

A couple of years ago, Segway and Ninebot jointly launched the Ninebot Gokart Pro Lamborghini Edition. A fully electric go-kart that used scooter technology. Among its features, a loudspeaker stood out that served to simulate the sound of a heat engine . Now, the brand has devised a way to implement that same speaker to all the electric scooters they manufacture, among which are also those they make for Xiaomi.

What is the Ninebot Engine Speaker and how useful is it?

Xiaomi scooters could have a loudspeaker to make noise

One of the great debates that arose when electric and hybrid vehicles began to proliferate was the sound. Accustomed to the noise of combustion engines, it seemed that electrifying the vehicle fleet could become dangerous for pedestrians.

On the other hand, it may seem like bullshit today, but if all goes according to plan, in a few decades, the Ninebot Engine Speaker will be considered a nostalgic collector’s item. After all, Europe’s plan is to completely suppress the engines of all life. The Ninebot speaker attaches to the scooter and connects via Bluetooth . When you accelerate the vehicle, the speaker will take care of sounding like an internal combustion engine . There are four different sound modes : from the simple single-cylinder and twin-cylinder engines to the exaggerated V8 and V12. Indeed, there is no middle ground.

Technical characteristics

The speaker has a power of 8 watts , weighs about 715 grams and can be attached to the vehicle through a strap. Its battery is 2,200 mAh , and can offer up to 3 hours of uninterrupted autonomy. The speaker can be recharged through its USB-C port. It also has an IP55 certificate, so it has some resistance to dust and light rainwater or splashes.

Obviously, it can also be used to listen to music using Bluetooth connectivity with a smartphone.

What vehicles are supported?

Segway Ninebot

This speaker can be attached to virtually all Ninebot and Segway devices : scooters, e-scooters, go-karts, bikes and self-balancing Segways. Ninebot is also the company behind the famous Xiaomi scooters. At the moment, in the Ninebot Engine Speaker manual only compatibility with the Mi Electric Scooter is mentioned, but it would not be surprising if compatibility with all models sold with the Xiaomi emblem would end up existing.

Price and availability

If you are interested in this accessory, you should know that it is already available to be able to buy it through the Segway website. However, we believe that at the moment it is a product only suitable for very petrolheads , since it is worth about 150 dollars .

A justifiable price if you are going to use it as a bluetooth speaker, but a very expensive whim if what you are looking for is that your scooter sounds like a V8 muscle car on the bike path on the way to the city of gasoline in Mad Max.
