Windows 11 working with less than 200 megabytes of RAM

Officially, the requirements of Windows 11 demand that we have very solvent computers, with 4 GB of RAM being the minimum allowed. This is why the adoption of Microsoft‘s latest operating system is being quite restrained, since many owners of devices that are somewhat old or with a modest configuration cannot use W11.

However, a hacker used only 196 MB of RAM to run Windows 11. This was achieved using Tiny11, a lightweight version of Windows 11.

Install Windows 11 with very little RAM

Tiny11 is the latest attempt to get around the restrictions and minimum requirements imposed by Windows 11. Computers that do not meet Microsoft’s requirements can install this lighter version of Windows 11 Pro .

The Tiny11 version theoretically only requires 2 GB of RAM to run in exchange for the official 4 GB of RAM, although it often requires 20 GB of disk space once loaded. All this until the user XenoPanther has tried to run this customized version of Windows 11 in an even more basic configuration and was successful.

This scene user used a virtualization with just 196MB of RAM , or about 5% of the total RAM Microsoft needs to run its operating system, to achieve this. It is obvious that using Windows 11 was not easy with this little memory. He struggled with blue screens of death (BSOD) for almost two hours before he was able to boot into the operating system. However, it was finally successful and after several more minutes, he was even able to access the task manager.

All it took was 30 minutes of BSODs and a further 15 minutes to open Task Manager.
I’m impressed that getting Windows 11 (Full desktop) to boot on 196MB is even possible https://t.co/hCGnaVPeNT

This success, already applicable to the version of Tiny11 with its fixed requirements, shows that the optimization of Windows 11 can be enough (in addition to the security requirements, of course) to allow the operating system to run on even the most basic hardware. Until then, if your PC is not officially compatible with Windows 11, you can always try to force install it by choosing to install Tiny11.

The Tiny11 light version

One of the points of Windows 11 that has been accumulating the most complaints since its launch has been its hardware requirements . And all because they were not available to all PCs. So it was achieved that this new version of Microsoft software was incompatible with a part of computers.

However, on more than one occasion we have already told you about the different options we have to bypass Microsoft’s restrictions to update a PC to this version of Windows. Although, with Tiny11 this will change forever.

In this way, we will not have to investigate how to meet each of the requirements or how we can bypass those Windows 11 restrictions. All for Tiny11, a project created by Tiny10. This is a light version of this operating system, based exactly on Windows 11 22H2 . Therefore, it is an option that consumes less resources and that does not need to meet all those demanding requirements that we find in the normal version of Microsoft software.
